Phoenix Guard

The Phoenix Guard is the elite military force of the Realm of Aerlon. In service since the Realm's founding in T5A 1,388, the Phoenix Guard is the personal bodyguard of the king, and its mission is the defense of the king and the Realm's people. Before the War of Cinders the Phoenix Guard was a regiment formed of many battalions and companies, but by T5A 2,013 is comprised of a single company of about 200 soldiers, nearly all of who remain stationed within Aera Ven indefinitely.
It's leader, Captain Wheeler Flameskin, is a veteran of the War of Cinders, having attained his ranked during that conflict near the war's close. His second in command is Lieutenant Mari Dagmara.
Only a small squad of Phoenix Guard remain outside Aera Ven, at Crosswarren defending the Lady Amanda Jaine. This request was made at the bequest of Captain Flameskin, who somehow convinced the king to allow the few soldiers that post.
The Phoenix Guard crest is the same phoenix as found on the Aerlonian flag, with its head turned to look to the left. This symbolizes their status as the right-hand of the king, as they must look left to see their ruler at this position.
