Tóaþril

Tóaþril is a town near Svarkó Pass in the eastern Sjorgús Mountains and the largest settlement in the mountains in general. It's frequently visited by merchants and other travelers on their way through the pass, where they can rest and enjoy the scenery, and perhaps exchange some goods and information while they're at it.

Demographics

Most of the inhabitants are a mixture of Paheiríen-Elves and Gartaraz-dwarves, although there are a few Sikíronians and Marissíans hailing from either side of the mountains.

Infrastructure

Tóaþril is located just above the western edge of Svarkó Pass, centered around a creek and surrounded by pastures, terraced fields and mixed woodlands beyond. The town boasts of a small but elaborately decorated shrine dedicated to Síó, goddess of magic, as well as simpler altar for visitors to worship their favoured deities to ensure a successful journey, while a winding pathway leads up to the nearest snake monastery, namely Anþa Vylkalí-æ-Vóane.

Architecture

Most of the buildings are simple wooden and stone structures in traditional paheiríenic style, with an emphasis on high-pitched roofs to prevent snow from piling up and potentially damaging the houses during winter. As in other settlements near Svarkó Pass, slate is extensively used as roofing material in Tóaþril, in part because the material is believed to have apotropaic qualities.
The slate tiles covering the roof on the local shrine is particularly elaborate, being shaped and arranged in such a way to emulate snake scales. The walls of the shrine also display serpent imagery, combined with intricate patterns representing vines and flowing water.
