Mk-23/2 Emperor Scorpion

Nydonian: X-23/2 Эзэн хаан Хилэнц (Ezen Khaan Khilents)

This vehicle exists mainly due to thousands of excess Mk-23 Scorpion hulls resting in storage after the Twelve Years War had ended, with the base vehicle then being too obsolete to continue producing.

Propulsion

A V10 Azarga (Азарга - Stallion) K-8788 engine making 680 horsepower powers a set of tracks that run around the entire side of the tank. This means that the tracks located on each side are visible even from a top down view. While this exposes them to more possibility of damage, it does also make them easier to repair and allows for a design the lends itself to better handling and speed. The engine compartment is seperated from the cabin and two fuel tanks on either side can store up to 325 gallons of diesel fuel.

Weapons & Armament

A 110mm main gun equipped with bore evacuator and longer barrel with the muzzle break removed as they had a tendency to interfere with APFSDS rounds. External springs support this longer gun. Standard full ammunition is 60 rounds of HEAT, the new APFSDS, and HE. HEAT rounds out of this gun make 260mm of penetration and APFSDS rounds make 690mm at the cost of less accuracy due to sabot rounds performing worse out of rifled guns.   The Ezen Khaan Khilents tank also has 2 8.2x53mm machine guns, one fixed coaxialy and the other mounted on the top of the turret near the commander's cupola.

Armor and defense

Several tons of reactive armor have been added to this variant of the tank, most of which is affixed to the sides to cover the thinner and more vulnerable side armor. The 3 angled armor plates in the turret have also been replaced with reactive armor panels at slightly steeper angles but using the same mounting methods. The bottom armor was also increased somewhat to help defend against IEDs. The substance used in the fire suppression system has been upgraded to be more effective and further teaching. Last, spall liners were also installed on some interior areas.

Communication Tools & Systems

An upgraded radio from the previous version of the tank can reach much further distances, in addition to a crew intercom that allows for wireless communication and better hearing protection.

Sensors

A targeting computer and gun stabilizer system have been added to the tank, as well as a more advanced electronic thermal optic with greater magnification.
