Mk-23/1 Big Scorpion

Nydonian: X-23/1 Том Хилэнц (Tom Khilents)

Propulsion

A supercharged V8 azar K-8366/1 engine making 550 horsepower powers a set of tracks that run around the entire side of the tank. This means that the tracks located on each side are visible even from a top down view. While this exposes them to more possibility of damage, it does also make them easier to repair and allows for a design the lends itself to better handling and speed. The engine compartment is seperated from the cabin and two fuel tanks on either side can store up to 325 gallons of diesel fuel, reduced from the previous version to make room for fire suppression systems.

Weapons & Armament

Upgraded from it's predecessor, this tank's 85mm gun is now replaced with a 110mm main gun equipped with bore evacuator and muzzle break device. Larger external springs were also needed to compensate for the extra weight and length of the barrel. Standard full ammunition is 60 rounds of APCBC, the new APDS, and HE. APCBC rounds out of this gun make 180mm of penetration and APCR rounds make 295mm at the cost of less accuracy due to sabot rounds performing worse out of rifled guns and less after-penetration damage.   The Tom Khilents tank also has 2 8.2x53mm machine guns, one fixed coaxialy and the other mounted on the top of the turret near the commander's cupola.

Armor and defense

Side skirts help protect the more vulnerable sides of the tank, making direct shots to the ammo racks more difficult for enemies. Additionally, 3 angled armor plates are mounted to both cheeks of the turret and the top of the main gun barrel. These plates are 35mm thick and have a greater angle than the turret's normal armor, helping to deflect incoming rounds or at least throw the projectiles off as they pass through to cause less damage. The top plate moves with the tank gun as it is affixed to the barrel. They also have more rivets to hold them on more securely than the previous version. Lastly, an automatic fire suppression system was added above the fuel tank that is also capable of spraying into the engine or ammo rack compartments.

Communication Tools & Systems
