Beast Echo

Qui-Lahks, as it is known are bonded to animals. But not all creatures can be considered animals. This includes the manticore the basilisk, the dragon , the unicorn , and the rukh. These creatures are colloquially referred to as beasts, and the lahk's relationship to them is very different.
Some lahks, when in proximity to these beasts, are afflicted by beast echo. They physically, mentally, and psychologically change to adopt the traits of the nearby beast. This change is not permanent as long as they can get away from the beasts. In the case of a beast echo case regarding a manticore, an afflicted lahk will start having vengeful thoughts that are beyond ones they have ever had before. They will mutter these thoughts incessantly. The physical changes happen over minutes once the muttering begins- their lips draw back, their eyes become wide and bloodshot, and deep set creases appear across their face. It becomes comparable to a manticore's face. These features will start to go away when they are no longer around the beast, though it can take hours to fully shed the beast echo effects.
There are some afflicted lahks who take to beast echo for elation and wisdom despite its dangers, like some lahks who are susceptible to unicorn beast echo. In this case, those afflicted will glow and their minds will race with transcendent energy. In this mode they can visualize anything they want, including problems and imaginative solutions with a beautiful intensity. The problem is they can overstimulate if they remain like this, separate too much from their physical body, and literally die on the spot. Unicorn beast echo can be so transcendental that they are effectively paralyzed. They relying on the unicorns moving away from them, or on others carrying them away.
As far as who is susceptible to beast echo, there are some theories. It appears that lahks that have a totem animal that is part of the beast, they are more likely to succumb to it. Thus Lion-lahks are particularly cautioned to stay away from manticores, and Shimastakshahs,  horse-lahks from unicorns, and crocodile-Lahks from dragons. This can be quite mournful for some. With the exception of the manticore, not all beasts are evil, and some lahks that desire a genuine connection with a beast are simply unable to get close to them without beast echo ruining it.
