Terra

" As i looked upon that little blue-green ball , i couldn't believe. It was Terra itself. Crown jewel of mankind and our very own homeworld. The place where mankind had achieved the ability to travel to the stars again. Terra itself was breathtaking. The gigantic cities , dominated by skyscarpers and commercial buildings were nothing back like i witnessed back home. Owing to all its natural beauty that was meticulously rebuilt by mankind after learning from their mistakes, Terra truly was the crown jewel of mankind"   A young Lorann sanguinus meros, upon seeing Terra for the first time.
Terra (also known as earth) is the homeworld of mankind, after the last surviving uncorrupted ancient humans known as Adam and Eve had relocated to a remote planet in a remote galaxy to rebuild mankind. After a long journey stretching billions of light years from the Aenarri homeworld of Inaria , they had come across a remote and nascent planet . The humans had decided to settle down on the planet and thus, human civilization began anew. To this day, earth remains the capital world of The Imperial Terran Federation, being a testament to mankinds dedication to protect their homeworld and defend it in their eternal war against Kerr the breaker.   Terra has undergone many radical changes since the thousand years of the Imperiums formation, though all of it were for the better. Thanks to careful policies by the new government to return earth back to its pristine and lush state, Terra has recovered significantly from its Industrial Revolution era wounds. Forests now cover a far larger stretch of the planet than they ever did before in history. There is more ice cover and permafrost than anytime else save for the snowball earth and ice age periods, with a third ice sheet now springing up in the Himalayan Mountains of South Asia. The planet is now a beautiful one, and unmatched in beauty even by the countless earth analogs spread across the galaxy.   For humanity, Terra will always hold a special place in their hearts. Despite it not being their true homeworld, they consider it as one as it has hosted them for much of their history and all of it after the events of the great sundering. And Humanity will give all it has just to protect the world that gave them happiness in an era of darkness.

Geography

" The verdant green fields of terra, ever so shining in the morning light. It took the hard work of all of humanity to return Terra to its natural and pristine state. The sheer beauty of our home overwhelmed me and god, i would give anything to live here forever"   Soras Valcoran, upon revisiting his homeworld for the first time in half a millenia
Terra itself is a verdant and lush world, it’s forests and pristine state having been meticulously restored by mankind over the course of centuries. The planet itself is divided into seven continents, all of which are inhabited to some degree. With the returning of earth to its pristine state, there are far more forests on earth than there used to be back during the early days of the federation. The fabled polar ice caps of earth, once disappearing from the planet due to the foolishness and hubris of man, has spread its icy reaches farther than any period before in earths history barring the glacial periods and the snowball earth period.   In short, mankind has transformed its homeworld back into its former glory, becoming a sister planet and one to rival even the likes of Inaria, the world mankind was originally born besides their alien brethren.

Megacities of Terra

”The megacities were what fascinated me the most. The tall silvery and black spires of the skyscrapers, the verdant green parks, the cool natural air free from the pestilence that had corrupted old earth, was heavenly. To me, it was just like back home”   /quote[Lorann sanguinus meros, reminiscing of the mega city of Christiania in Norway, during his time on terra.
Across the surface of Terra, there run gigantic clusters of metal and stone. Situated in all sorts of terrain from alpine grasslands to coastal areas, these megacities house the urban population of Terra and make up the major economic nodes of Terra. Despite what some people might think, The Terran megacities are not vast dregs of poverty, filth and overpopulation. In fact, they are quite the opposite. The mega cities are simply put, an urban utopia to live in with almost zero pollution, little to no crime, excellent drainage and sewage systems, proper management of electricity and internet. Moreover, there exists a large amount of plants and trees in the cities too to enhance their greenery and many of them have parks larger than the cities of old earth that house many millions of trees. 7 of the megacities count as the capital cities of the federation, each being located on a different continent. They are a testament to mankind’s ability to endure against the harsh treatment of Mother Nature, and a source of hope for an age full of peace and prosperity, even in the dark and bleak age of the last days of the 3rd millennium

Fauna & Flora

"Terra has grown so beautiful. I never imagined i would see it so rich in life like the other worlds of the universe. Come to think of it now, it actually does triumph over most of its kin in the great dark beyond, because it contains a feeling that you can never find in the vast darkness of the void"   Soras Valcoran, remarking on the natural beauty of Earth
The Flora and Fauna of Terra has grown substantially in the last one thousand years. Combined with genetic engineering of artifical animals as well as the resurgence of new ones, Terra is now a haven and hotspot for life in the milky way galaxy. Many giant creatures roam its surface as freely as they had in prehistoric times. Large dragons fly through the sky, their wings sometimes casting shadows over entire towns. In the oceans, gigantic beasts lurk beneath the waters, occasionally surfacing and baffling their smaller cousins, as well as any other smaller species that may behold their majesty.   All of this possible due to the sacrifices mankind had made to restore its homeworld to its former glory.

What a wonderful article. The combination of your words and the music gave me a somewhat nostalgic but hopeful feeling. I really love how you paint a future for earth where nature has been restored. I would like to read more about the geography of the different continents. Has everything that happened in the past changed these continents? Like a desert where there wasn't one in times long ago. I would also like to read more about the megacities. Which is the most important and why? How is life for people in these cities?
