Balryne Myani

Balryne Myani is a Drow Witch (Wizard) who follows Eilistraee studying magic at the Lady's College in Daemarrel. She was granted permission to attend the College following the vetting process by Fay Mytersaal in the presence of Lord Niele Breyny and the local Magistrate. Once admitted, she began to flourish in the study of Necromancy under the tutelage of Eesk the Lich. Although prone to being somewhat subordinate, she is considered one of the best students at the College.

Balryne is quite cheery for a Drow. She isn't shy in the least and frequently approaches strangers to engage in conversation. Her social skills, however, do need refinement as she tends to ask exceedingly forward or personal questions. Most residents of Daemarrel try to steer clear of her in an effort to avoid any awkward conversations. She is oblivious to their attempts, and has been known to follow individuals into their homes wanting to catch up on the latest gossip. This also applies to her fellow students as she will enter a student's dorm room unannounced, sit upon their bed, and begin chatting them up regarding anything that happened to strike her fancy at that particular time.

Balryne Myani is a Drow follower of Lolth and is unknowingly attempting to pass as a follower of Eilistraee in order to attend the Lady's College in Daemarrel. She passed the vetting process after Lolthite Priestesses prepared her by altering her memories through the use of the Mindrape spell. They planted false memories of her being a follower of Eilistraee from the stronghold of the Promenade of the Dark Maiden. The location of the Promenade is secret, so she cannot tell others where it is located. They also altered her memory and personality to make her extremely sociable in an effort to gather information and research about the social norms of surface dwellers. They also planted an additional memory, that she absolutely and unquestionably trust and listen to the commands of an individual known as Khelme Xarrill, who Balryne also believes to be her adoptive Mother. Khelme is a Cult of Chaos agent who visits the King's Arms Tavern & Inn frequently.

Although Balryne volunteered to undertake this mission as a devoted follower of Lolth, she is completely unaware of her life prior to the Mindrape, and firmly believes the implanted memories she was given. She eagerly visits with Khelme when she visits the King's Arms Tavern and fills her in on all the gossip, goings-on at the College, and the residents and news of Daemarrel. Balryne has also been instructed by Khelme to find and introduce her to promising students of Necromancy, as Khelme may have offers of opportunity for them to progress in magic far better than anything the College has to offer. As a result, Balryne has indirectly been responsible for introducing these students to Khelme, who then manipulates their motivations into joining the Cult of Chaos via a secret Drow passage underneath the Daemarrel Necropolis. Balryne isn't fully aware of the details of what happens with the students after they are introduced to Khelme. She simply believes they are making the decisions for themselves to advance their career in magic.
