Tolec (Toll-Eck)
A land inspired by Aztec/Mayan Culture and the idea of an unconquered central/south america. It is a densely forested continent with a taiga forest in the north. It is made up of 5 closely related nations; Xbalanke, Hunahpu, Ixkik, Imul Nation and @Kivuiq.
They have politically isolated themselves from the outside world, not wanting undue outside influence and have thus preserved their culture over the ages. Ixkik and Huhahpu have some dealings with the outside world, though all are closely guarded.
The three southern nations, Xblanke, Hunahpu and Ixkik share many blood ties. Noble families will identify themselves with a latin-rooted suffix denoting the number of their house, for instance Nonaquintus for the 95th house, Tricadecimus for the 13th house. The Royal family of Hunahpu is Primus, the 1st house. For Xbalanke it is Cent, the 100th House. The higher the number in Xbalanke, the closer to the royal family, the lower, the closer to the royal family of Hunahpu. In Ixkik, rank is determined more randomy, by the favor your house is shown by the gods, bringing you closer to the House of Crimson, the oligarch who's official title is the Orator of Blood. Their direct subordinates are, in order, The Orator of the White Moon, Orator of the Blue Moon, and the High Weaver.
Tolec is connected to Barraskr by the land bridge formed by the Titan's Grave Mountains, but it is impassable, and Xbalanke have done their best to keep outsiders from settling upon the continent. Ixkik and Hunahpu while friendlier to trade are just as determined to keep outsiders from settling. Few have tried to settle in the lands of Kivuiq, but they have been quickly expelled either by the inhabitants or other presences in those northern lands.
Tolec is the birth place of Blood Magic, or Hemomancy, with Hunahpu, Xbalanke and Ixkik refining the art into the Orders of Blood Hunters.
The peoples of Tolec are largely human but also include Sea Elves and Merfolk along the coasts, Tabaxi, who originated there, and Aasimar, descended from the Cloud and Storm Giants who once lived in the Titan's Grave Mountains.
Geography
Tolec is covered in dense jungles until it gives way to the broad tundra and steppe of Kivuiq, and the high, steep mountains of the Titan's Grave Mountains.
The land is also honeycombed with vast underground caverns and passages, some large enough to build whole cities in, others dark enough to host untold horrors of legend. The mountains are also often active volcanos, and the lakes have underwater gysers.
Ecosystem
The jungles of Tolec are often bathed in warmth and vary from tropical to temperate, though the northern range quickly yields to taiga and tundra. The southern coasts are tropical and extremely geothermically active.
Ecosystem Cycles
The southern reaches of the continent do not seem to experience seasons, but the north seems bathed in prolonged winters. The geothermal activity of the continent creates these disparate climates.
