Bane’s Glade: Sanctuary of Peace and Memory

Bane's Glade is near the southern edge of Banewood, sheltered by the canopy of towering oaks, maples, birches, and poplars. Untouched by time, this sacred site is a place of tranquillity and reverence. At its heart stands the hut Bane himself built, blessed by the Yv’anda and now serving as a temple. This simple wooden structure is a beacon of gratitude for the Kutauri, who place offerings here in thanks for the glade’s protection and peace. Travellers who find themselves in this haven would do well to show proper respect, leaving a trinket or kind word at the shrine.

A Community in Harmony

The settlement is a harmonious blend of tradition and practicality. Tents crafted from animal hides and pelts rise high and spacious to accommodate the Kutauri’s stature. These lodges spiral outward from the centre of the glade, forming a natural pattern. The most able-bodied inhabitants—hunters, foragers, and warriors—reside on the outskirts, while the centre houses children, mothers, and the elderly. Though predominantly home to Kutauri and Yv’anda, Bane’s Glade welcomes all races seeking peace, save for humans.

The Harras Ideal

The Kutauri of Bane’s Glade, known as Harras, are devoted to the pursuit of peace and cultural growth. Their lives are enriched by their deep connection with the Yv’anda and the creatures of the forest. However, their pacifistic nature often clashes with the ideals of the Harrat Wing, who view the Harras as complacent. Despite this tension, the glade’s existence provides a crucial foundation for the Harrat Wing, offering a sanctuary for children, the elderly, and food supplies.

Stargazing Spot: Away from the bustling center, this secluded spot offers an unparalleled view of the night sky. Many find solace and clarity under the stars.

Hunger’s Lodge: Located at the edge of the spiral, this hut serves as the primary site for preparing and distributing hunted game. Hunters often pitch their tents nearby for convenience.

The Trotting Tankard: A somber counterpart to the Neigh-borhood Bar, this darker establishment near the public tents caters to freshly freed Kutauri grappling with their past traumas. The ale is cheap, the company melancholic.

Yv’anda’s Shrine: One of the oldest structures in the glade, this shrine holds a sapling of the Oldest Tree—a sacred gift from the Yv’anda. It is a place of devotion and reverence.

Sweating Lodge: A ritual site for those seeking to confront their inner demons. The transformative ceremonies held here leave participants changed, though only the truthful emerge unscathed.

Fields: Encircling the glade are fields of wheat and cotton, interspersed with wild gardens of potatoes, tomatoes, and carrots. The Yv’anda’s blessings ensure these crops grow free from pests and provide sustenance for the glade’s inhabitants.

Bane’s Glade is more than a settlement; it is a living hymn to peace and resilience. Each tent, each shrine, and each tree carries a memory of those who chose harmony over conflict. Yet, beneath its tranquil surface lies a quiet strength—one that nurtures hope and reminds us all of the power of unity. To walk its paths is to step into a tale of grace and defiance.
