The World of Deuslair
Overview
Deuslair is a world rife with conflict, its history shaped by deeply rooted grudges and cycles of animosity. While some factions cling stubbornly to the past, others are ensnared in an endless struggle with no clear beginning or end. At the heart of this turbulent era are three factions vying for dominance: the Fortress of Dragsa, the Redoe Alliance, and the Disciples of Chaos. However, each of these factions is a mosaic of subgroups, each with its own ambitions, alliances, and betrayals. Internal discord and corruption plague their ranks, painting a picture far more complex than a battle of good versus evil. In Deuslair, morality is a murky gray, where searching for clear heroes or villains leads only to more misery.
A Clash of Deities
Long before the current age, two deities clashed in a cosmic battle: Order and Chaos. The confrontation left Chaos weakened and banished to its own realm, but this outcome came at a great cost. Order was slain, its followers scattering to bury the remains of their deity in hopes of a future resurrection.
Eons have passed since that fateful event. Though the land still bears scars from their battle, the story has faded into legend, believed by only a few. In the absence of divine influence, civilizations rose and fell, building a world rich in culture and strife. Among these civilizations was a human nation called Dragsa, which unearthed a magical ore deep beneath the ground. This ore, named the “Roots of Life,” granted access to unimaginable feats of magic and technology.
The Rise of Dragsa
At first, Dragsa shared the Roots of Life with other inhabitants of the land, fostering an era of innovation and progress. Together, they developed magical technologies that reshaped their world. However, as Dragsa delved deeper into the mysteries of the ore, suspicions grew among the other nations. Some claimed the Roots of Life were the remains of the god of Order, branding its use as blasphemy. Whether this claim was true or a pretext for their own agendas, the result was clear: Dragsa was forbidden from using or researching the ore.
Faced with losing their newfound power, Dragsa defied the ban, plunging the land into war. To ensure victory, they doubled down on their use of the Roots of Life, constructing a massive stronghold that became their new capital: the Fortress of Dragsa. They also began experimenting on captured prisoners, creating the beastkin races. These beings were initially enslaved as laborers and soldiers, their existence a testament to Dragsa’s ruthless determination.
The Redoe Alliance
Opposing Dragsa, the remaining nations united under the banner of the Redoe Alliance. Generations of war followed, with the Alliance gradually pushed back to other continents. On Kallonia, only scattered rebel forces remained to oppose Dragsa’s dominance. Meanwhile, some beastkin, disillusioned with their creators, defected to join the Alliance or formed independent factions. Among these was a group that established their own country, beyond Dragsa’s reach.
The Disciples of Chaos
As the battle between Dragsa and the Redoe Alliance raged, a new threat emerged. Forces from another realm invaded a southern continent, leaving devastation in their wake. Calling themselves the Disciples of Chaos, they sought the remains of the “traitorous god”—Order—to fuel their insatiable hunger for power. Their arrival upended the fragile balance of Deuslair, adding another layer of conflict to an already fractured world.
A World on the Brink
Deuslair stands at a crossroads, its future uncertain. The Fortress of Dragsa, the Redoe Alliance, and the Disciples of Chaos each strive for supremacy, their conflicts threatening to engulf the land in chaos. Yet beneath the surface of these grand struggles lie countless smaller stories: of individuals fighting for survival, factions torn apart by internal strife, and secrets buried deep within the earth waiting to be uncovered.
This is the world of Deuslair—a land scarred by history, teeming with life, and poised on the edge of an era that will shape its destiny. It is here that our story begins.
