Lake Frothloch
The Veins of Connection
Lake Frothloch is a vital artery between Banewood and the rest of Kallonia. Its waters weave stories of trade, conflict, and unity. Fed by three rivers—Avaloria from the north, Silvermoon from the southern Turnealop Mountains, and Froth, which flows into the Murknen Sea—the lake connects distant lands and diverse cultures. Yet, beneath its tranquil surface lies a history of strife and resilience.
A Bastion of Resistance
For centuries, Lake Frothloch was a contested point between the Fortress of Dragsa and Banewood. Seven years ago, under the fiery leadership of Red Lye, the Harrat Wing wrested control of the region. They claimed an old fort built by enslaved beastkin as a foothold for Dragsa and renamed it Medi’s Will. Today, this fort is the only official base directly tied to the Harrat Wing, surrounded by a bustling village inhabited by Yv’anda, Kutauri, Medusas, and Kril. Together, they forge a hub of trade, military innovation, and cultural confluence.
The Shrine of Medi
Last year, a shrine dedicated to Medi was erected on the lake’s solitary island. A bone of Medi, said to possess magical properties, was buried there, and a towering statue of the centaur now watches over the waters. Legends whisper of a hidden chamber in the shrine’s catacombs, where Red Lye is said to have concealed something of great power alongside the relic. The shrine symbolises protection and defiance, a beacon of hope against Anara’s cruelty.
The Shadows Around the Lake
Though Medi’s Will is well-fortified, the surrounding areas of Lake Frothloch are far from safe. Opulence and opportunity often attract danger, and the region teems with goblins, kobolds, bandits, and thieves lying in wait for unsuspecting travelers. Merchants passing through must navigate these perils, relying on vigilance and, often, the protection of local allies.
Lake Frothloch—a place where waters whisper the tales of countless lives, where the past and present meet in rippling waves. Medi’s statue stands tall, its gaze cast over the lake as if daring the heavens to challenge its resolve. But tread carefully, adventurer, for where there is power, shadows always gather. And in Frothloch’s depths, one cannot help but feel the weight of secrets yet untold.
