The Conflict
Prelude
After the Standoff at Jiliang, the Du family fell rapidly from Emperor Zou's favor. Once they lost his protection, Du Qian Men's enemies swiftly plotted the family's downfall. Seeking to regain the emperor's favor, Qian Men made plans to turn the Zhangs over on the grounds of their quiet collecting of weapons and secret martial training over the previous decade. His daughter Rui Sheng could not live with being responsible for the destruction of Huai Shi and his family, however, and she intervened by placing herself in the hands of the Zhangs. This forced an uneasy discussion and eventual alliance between the two families, the Weis, Ruya Ilkin, and Gao Zhong Hu.
