Meredith verch Maudra

Meredith verch Maudra, Nemoralia (a.k.a. Garnet-lily, Redcap-lily)

Meredith verch Maudra is a friend of Sheena's, a Wrakka who became an infloresence of Garnet lilies after her subjugation. When the Clockmaker religion and influence of the Gannwyll Gwydd began to codify, certain rural cults were given some support to convert their doctrine and make their high priestess a saint, so long as the saint was executed. Those who did not comply but still professed their loyalty to Bel (aka, used the radio) were silenced in one way or another. Everybody was trying to get out of the South as it crumbled, and everyone was trying to get as much airtime as they possibly could and set up their communication routes. It was time to conquer the land.

Meredith was a priestess of Nemoralis, Maudra's huntress aspect, whose army had set up radio networks around different Wyva in Eskern. She had retired and bartered with the Emperor to be its governor in Good Faith. When she first meets the 20 year old Sheena, she is in her 50s and one of her descendants is in charge of the radio system in Eskern, though the Empire has now sent her a lot of back up.

She is sometimes a thorn in Sheena's side but ultimately believes what Sheena says to be true. When Sheena gives her the Garnet-lily seeds, Meredith immediately takes them.

Meredith is worshipped as a folk Saint in Eskern and in some Southern Clockmaker sects, but all attempts to grant her canonization have failed. She was the first Priestess of the Goodwitches, a pantheon of prophet demigods who would eventually become the Supreme God of Electric Light, Bel. Meredith's Goodwitch patron was Hesta. Many spells especially in the rural regions still reference "the cross roads of Hesta" of "Meredith's womb", in reference to the Forest of Bones.

She is from one of the Six Parasitic Tribes, who are people suffering with a contagious parasitoid. Nycteria and Coccidae are two. Meredith is from a tribe called the Pilotfish. Meredith's people are born in a den full of food their now absent mother has prepared, known as the . They will hunt whatever species that happens to be so have a varying success rate with being tamed. There are some who are unfortunately cannibals. Meredith's people mostly lived off of Seaweed and Kelp by the coast, so they are sometimes mistaken for being Glendatis.

Meredith was quiet but loyal to Sheena. She remained a strong-willed yet withdrawn person and studied the biology of the Eskern forest. Much of the anecdotal knowledge of the nature of the Forest of Bones comes from her shrine and sect. She is worshipped in a lot of Myacoris sects but not on an official level, and she is probably the origin of the "Washerwoman" imagery of Modron in the Kannerenoz sect.
