Trolls

The stoneshapers

Also known as "Giants", "Ogres" or "Stone Men".   Trolls are known for three things. Being big. Being less intelligent then most mortals. And being absolute masters of stone. A troll can carve out a rock face in to a cavern fit for a nobleman's family whit noting but his two hands.   This is the reason for the many songs about trolls and their bridges. As it is for once a tale that is really true. Many trolls have built stone buildings.   However this is sadly not the only tale about trolls that are true. Trolls have, from time to time, eaten people. A behavior that has lead many to distrust, fear or even hate trolls. Those trolls are often not welcome into human settlements, and now and again some folk go hunting for trolls.   As a race they are now growing fewer and fewer in number. Some say that trolls may one day go extinct.

Troll Stones

No one but the trolls themselves know how they do it. And they are to simply minded to explain in a way that makes sense. In any case trolls can reshape stone in to a material known as "Trollstone". This stones are harder then diamonds and can be as sharp as steel. If a ax-head made of trollstone strikes a dwarven forged steel blade the steel blade shatter.   Some say that if trolls where more intelligent they could easily conquer the world whit this stones. But trolls seldom create trollstones and then more often then not just because they need a tool of some sort. There are story's about trolls that loved to make trollstones, one such fable tell a story about a troll that made a bridge of this magical rocks. That tale ended badly for the troll however, as it was murdered by a greedy warlord whom wanted the stones for his armory.
