Strike for Independence Memorial

A memorial placed in the center of Thohtatyu village. The memorial is six massive stone plates standing upright in a hexagon with spaces in the corners. On the outside are names engraved of all those who died under the oppression of the Five Ponds Nation and the independence struggle. On the insides is documentation of some of the most gruesome events that took place during their time.   One of the fronts is dedicated to Archdruid Jemma Galloway. One front is dedicated to the Adirondack Park Alliance and the warriors of the West Canada Nation who helped them relocate to Thohtatyu village.   The memorial serves both as a meeting point as well as a focal point of the village. The space around it is a large plazza that is used for markets, festivals and other events.   Once a year there is a large three day festival on the plazza with the entire village to remember the events and honor those that were killed. On the first day there are recitals of the struggles during their oppression. They remember the massacres and their plight. On the second day the honor the struggle for independence itself and Jemma Galloway and the warriors of the West Canada Nation for their crucial support and for hearing them.   On the third day the villagers celebrate their future. They tell stories of their successes and thriumps, they celebrate the coming of age of younglings, they celebrate life and feast and dance for the entire day.   The festivities are attended by many different officials from the Alliance, the Archdruid, the New York Gove and the West Canada Nation.   The memorial is the goal of many school trips from the Adirondack Mountains, so most people from the mountains know of this tragedy in order to prevent this kind of thing from ever happening again.
