Caretaker

The caretakers are the core of the every orphanage. They manage the day-to-day operations and ensure that all orphans are taken care of. Caretakers are often trained social workers, teachers or any other social profession. However, any of the caretakers start out as total new comers. They are usually recruited by Cassidy herself or by another caretaker or dragon loyalist.

Qualifications

The qualifications to join A caretaker is always trained on the job. Each orphanage has between 5 - 10 caretakers depending on the size of the particular orphanage. In smaller orphanages they often do more than just take care of the children as they cannot afford to employ too much support staff.

Education, Training & Ranks

In recent years the careers of caretakers have become more and more professionalized. Where some compassion and a nack for working with children used to be more than enough, a degree in a related field is often a requirement for new recruits. Only those chosen by Cassidy herself often do not have these qualifications. However, most of them are then asked to actually go and aquire a related degree funded by the orphanage.

Supernatural Care

The caretakers are specialized in taking care of supernatural orphans. In order to do so the caretakers need knowledge about all the different abilities and conditions they have. To facilitate this any caretaker is required to study the most common cases. The knowlegde on how to raise these vastly different types of children has been accumulated over many centuries of care. Every caretaker writes reports on their work and these are then added to the digital knowlegde base of the oprhanages.
This specialized knowlegde differentiates the caretakers from any other type of professional in the field.

History

The caretaker profession has a long history. It started many centuries ago when Cassidy decided she wanted to take care of the orphans of a village. All the adults had been killed by a mysterious disease or curse. She constructed the first orphanage with the help of her friend Jurian Rink. He became the first caretaker within the first orphanage. Since then Cassidy has spread these orphanages across the globe, funded almost entirely by her successful business ventures.
