Daybreak: Weird Beginnings

by Jazpar Keen

NOT IN MY FUCKING PHONE
This week past by so fast, and I didn't exactly start on the right foot either.

Out of the gate, I got an F on my first assignment in understanding Keyblades. I went to get some hands on training for extracurricular, which boosted my grade, but still, wasn't expecting that. Good thing Master Sora's an understanding guy.

After that, all I can really remember is that we went off to Radiant Garden, Midgar specifically. It was supposed to be a massive unveiling led by Master Cid Highwind, but it turned from celebration to chaos in a matter of seconds. We were attacked, by these crazy "Double Hearts," a new type of enemy that even the masters don't know what they are... what's worse is that I couldn't do a thing to lend a hand.

I tried to help, but at the end of the day, my spells didn't work and I barely was able to do anything worth remembering, not that I expected to, but still... I just felt helpless. What's crazy is that Moya felt the same way, despite her having so much more training than me (she watched two of her squad mates die in an instant).

Something to note: in our encounter with the Double Hearts, they seemed to be COMPLETELY focused on Amaya (Namine's daughter). I told Namine about this too, and she was quite shocked, puzzled to say the least. Her mind wandered about creature of pure light and darkness before cutting herself off. I definitely got the impression it was something she wasn't supposed to say, at least around me.

I don't know why, but for some reason, I like what happened to me might be related to these creatures, this attack. Why would they go after Namine's daughter? I don't know her well, but she definitely doesn't feel like the type to just do something stupid. I don't know exactly what I can do as a freshman, but I'm going to see how I can help.

Long story short, I'm going to be at Daybreak for a while. Master Yen Sid locked down the place for our safety. I told my mom I probably won't be coming home any time soon, but I reassured her I'd be safe... I just hope I can actually be worth something to my classmates and family instead of just dead weight.

What a start to my wonderfully weird history...
