Journal Entry 2: Prision break

Hello again, A lot has happened since I last wrote. I suppose I should start from the beginning. Last we left off, I had just went downstairs to spread my tale. But that was gonna have to wait, Sulvarax got a message from von hendrix saying he was captured and not to come for him. Naturally we all agree to say screw that and went to help him. We figured out that he would most likely to be in the dungeon of the barons castle. So we created a plan, and it was a pretty good one. First we would ride to the river side and wait on the other side of Weshaven. Then around midnight we would have Sulvarax cast water walking on us and ride across the river. Then we would sneak around the docks and enter the sewers through the exit underwater. We then traversed the sewers and ran into a couple swarms of rats. One tidalwave from Uzu was enough to scatter them, but we did get bite a few times. After that was over, we saw the underground entrance to the prison. We may have gone in too quickly (due to rillithae constat wining of a sewer not being a place for royalty) and made quite the noise. But that didn't matter, the guard on duty didn't hear us. We quickly removed the barricades and subdued the guard. We began searching the area, but things can never be up and up in this land and lone behold, we found a dark cult worship room. I could sense that there were dark forces at work in the room. The room would have to wait however, Uzu and Rillithae found Von Hendrix's repeating crossbow. I resummoned chad in the form of a hound and had him track the scent of hendrix. Chad charged out of the guard house and me and the party followed. He eventually stopped in front of a solid stone wall with a small hole in the bottom. At first i thought chad was joking and he meant that he was in a cell somewhere nearby. But he told me that the scent is coming from under the wall. That's when Rillithae found a secret button and it caused the wall to open. I followed close behind chad when we turned the corner and saw grog. It turned my gut to see the carnage in the room. Grog had earned his warriors death as he died fighting skeletons to the last. They did not hold back, they cut, cleaved and decapitated him. We did not have but 5 seconds mourn before the skeletons rose. 4 in total had survived his onslaught, and 4 died again to our blades and magic. I gave Uzu time to mourn his close friend as I went and grabbed his sword. Another blade to show the king of our casualties... Back to the mission. We gathered ourselves and continued following Chad, all the while I'm talking to him in my head. As we turned the corner chad told me he saw Hendrix in a cell. We rushed forward right into the trap. Von hendrix was screaming at us about we were fools and how we should have left him to die. I tell him we couldn't leave him as 2 vampiric abominations dropped from the ceiling. Uzu managed to cast a immobilizing spell on one of them , freeing us to focus on the other. I hacked, slashed, and smited all I could and I barely seemed to make a difference. But Suvarax, bless his souls has a few tricks up his sleeve as dozens of radiant baby dragons started to swarm the abominations. In doing this he caused the zampiric hags to recoil and stop their healing. These hags didn't like the dragons and started to shred through our defenses nearly killing Rillithae in one go and slashing through my armor. The wounds they inflicted imdeiatly started to fester and prevented me for healing it. I was blocking blow after blow from the hag in front of me when I got stabbed into from behind. when i came to, the hags were dead and everyone was alive. I felt like I had just drank the entirety of midway taverns alcohol supply, then fell out of the keep window. I slowly rose and went to heal hendrix, stumbling along the way. Once we all got our bearings, we traveled back through the tunnels. Once we made it out of the tunnel, we were immediately intercepted by a Knight in black armor and a glowing red greatsword. We all agreed that in our current state we couldn't take him on. The knight motioned for us to turn around and go up a ladder. The ladder led up to the barons room. We set Hendrix on the bed and left him with the doctor. We left to investigate the rest of the keep. We didn't find anything of interest, but we did hear someone in the main hall. Me and suvlarax look through a crack in the door when a voice called us into the room. We opened the door to see 2 more of those knights, lady castorena, and the body of the baron on his throne, a large cavity where his heart should be. She ordered us to gather the other, at first I tried to tell hear that Hendrix didn't need to be here. She didn't like that and sai if we did not bring everyone she would just kill everyone. Once she gathered us in the main hall, she told us that she would be back in 1 week and destroy the town. Then she disappeared into a swarm of bats with her guards and flew away. We all were too tired to continue and rested in the guest rooms of the keep. I write this journal after the siege of Weshaven and i will write about it in my next entry. till then, I've got work to do and people to celebrate with.
