Journal Entry 6: The Skeletal Colossus

by Tyrion

Oh this is gonna be a good one. We were riding around the planes when we passed by the ruins of Weshaven. We camped a few miles away and set up a bonfire to signal to any survivors inside. This seemed like a good plan at the time, but boy did it backfire. Oh it's closing in, got to go______

Alright where was I? Ah yes, explaining what the thing that came out of Weshaven is. It was a Skeletal Colossus. This thing was the biggest creature that I have ever set eyes on. This abomination was equal to or larger than the towers of Weshaven's keep before its destruction. And boy could it move, when it got up to speed it was outrunning our horses. The others pelted it with arrows and spells, but only the magical arrows did much damage. Since this is journal about only a single battle, I will go into more detail while it is still fresh in my head.

We were all camping quietly on the planes when Sulvarax and Rillithae came other and started yelling at everyone to back up and get into the wagon. At first, I didn't see what was the rush until they explained in the wagon what was after us. We quickly made the plan of having Rilithae sit in the back and shoot it as it advances towards us. Once it got close, Sulvarax blessed my weapon with holy radiance. The sword glowed with a purifying white light, and I could feel the power of it through my gloves. I as well, channeled on my gods powers and hastened myself and chad. With these new powers, I cut the reigns on chad and charged out into the night at the colossus. The others bailed out and told the kid to stay inside the wagon and hide. They let out their barrage of attacks and staggered the beast. Then I finally reached the colossus. Me and chad started running under and around its legs, slamming into them with divine fury. When my sword clashed against the abomination, large bursts of divine light would explode out from it. It tried many times to hit us but we were too fast for it, that was until it kicked me straight in the chest. Have you ever had a house collapse upon you?Well take all of those falling debris and shoot it out of a cannon, that its about equal to the force of that kick. It was a miracle that I stayed on chad after that one. That hit left a permanent divit in my breastplate that I still can't get out. Still we kept up the assault, creating beacons of light across the plains with every strike. While I was cleaving at the things legs, the others had their own problems. The colossus was throwing skeletons at the others with great effect. They were forced to focus their fire on the skeletons instead of on the colossus, which gave it time to advance on them. Sulvarax became overwhelmed and was forced to take back his concentration to fight the skeletons around him. We did everything we could to stop its advance, all to no avail. It was just too big to stop. Rilithae set up a massive spike trap in the blink of an eye and it did nothing to stop it's advance. On its last legs, it made it to the party and slammed down on Sulvarax. His great strength and his shield deflected most of the blows but he couldn't take all of the attacks. He was kicked as well and sent flying 10 ft back, unconscious. Filled with fury, I channeled all of my remaining divine power and slammed it into the abomination's leg. The radiant energy climbed up its body and caused the body to collapse in a explosion of bone and holy light.

I quickly rode over to Sulvarax and healed him with divine pool of healing. It was there that the backlash of using haste hit me and chad, we were rendered paralyzed for a few moments. After the battle, me and Uzu went around destroying the bones so that the necromancers can't come and retrieve them.

It has been a few days since I wrote in this log, we have received word that the king is here in the area. He has requested our presence at the river near Blackwind's castle. Hopefully we can finally give a full report of what has happened here. And I can finally give him the sword of grog, so he can be remembered for his bravery and spirit in the capital. These journals should also help explain what has happened. It might even make the report entertaining.
