Arrival in Vogler p2.

by Caches Brimming Beard

So yeah Becklin invited us to the funeral. When we were talking, Becklin mentioned there is some historical battle reenactment and invited us to take part in that if we like. Which I think sounds incredibly informative and exciting to live out the history of Vogler.
Before we left the Keep I mentioned to Becklin and Darrett that the River Gate isn't exactly up to code that it's stuck open. Lucas mentioned earlier that they needed to increase security with the threat of the Lucas is calling the "Red Dragon Army" so I mentioned they might want to dig out the doors so they can close them in an emergency. Lucas mentioned they might want to increase security with maybe more watchers on the walls with bows.

Then we left and headed out to the spot where Ispin was attacked and found dead, led by Becklin as our guide. Erno and I found a big hole up in the branches of a tree above the spot with sticks broken all over the ground like something maybe crashed downward. Juraj found some overly big claw marks around the grounds and something about someone wearing house slippers?.. Whatever that's about. We tried following the trail of the house slippers and the tracks just stopped completely and disappeared. So when that lead went cold we double backed and showed Becklin the body of one of the dead Red Dragons. Oh, oh, oh, I had the idea of grabbing the barding off of the back of the dragon and Becklin helped me get it off. It was incredibly heavy for me and Lucas helped me get it in my sack. While I was struggling with the barding into the bag I gave up for a bit with the last piece and got a Red Dragon Scale as a souvenir. But oh yeah, so I have the barding now, which is super exciting because now I think I have enough metal to make Scutum Chalybe. I had no idea where I was going to get my hands on that much metal so that is super exciting! There is so much metal from the dragon I might even have enough to make him a Shield and Sword and make him really look like a Knight of Solamnia.

So then when we got back to town Juraj and I spent the night going through Ispins room at the Keep looking for clues. Oh My Gods, Ispins room was beautiful, just tons and tons of papers everywhere with important information. Apparently Ispin was talking to all sorts of people with correspondence. I found a missive about the Gods being gone; which obviously isn't true, at least I know that. Juraj found something about "how a certain knight was asked to stop what someone or a group was doing, they didn’t and that’s what caused the Cataclysm". We also found some information on dragons in the stack of papers about Tahkisis meddling in the affairs of mortal and the gods said get lost.

Juraj mentioned something I wasn't expecting. He mentioned him and Ispin had a vision about Takhisis and how she/they might be returning. Which wow, that's some major news. Which definitely caught me by surprise when he mentioned having a vision. I thought I kept a pretty straight face, but I think Juraj caught on and he immediately asked if I have had a vision. I wasn't planning on bringing it up, but he asked and Ispin seems to have trusted him. So I took a leap of faith and told him all that happened, with Petal, Ispin and I at the temple and how we had visions, and that the Gods are returning and how I think I might be a champion to the God Reorx and I showed him the medallion. So yeah, that happened, which wow I didn't think I'd be having that conversation so soon with someone I just met this morning. I checked Ispins room and I didn't see anything magical or anything magically hidden, so we left the Keep to go find the others we met today and Petals. Petals was DRUNK! I made sure to make him drink at least one glass of water before bed.

I need to do some sketching before bed and figure out a few things. I think I've come up with a way to shoot my crossbow without loading it making it shoot out energy similar to my hand wraps. Unfortunately this crossbow still requires 2 hands to hold so I can't use my shield when I'm using it. I need to work out how to maybe get a smaller crossbow that only uses 1 hand to hold and do the energy thing to that crossbow so I can hold that in one hand and hold my shield in the other. I never really thought about it till all this stuff about Ispins shield being missing, but I think it's funny my copper shield is oxidized on the top parts and the lower inner parts of the copper aren't so it looks like I kind of have my own green shield too. Which was kind of scary that people were talking about finding Ispins killer and how they probably took his Green shield and here I have a Green Shield on my belt, that was really uncomfortable. Luckily everyone in the room knew Ispin and saw what his shield looked like and how it looks nothing like mine or that conversation could have gone completely different.

It really sucks that this all happened to Ispin. He seemed like a really amazing guy and a very genuine person from all the stories and the interactions I had with him for the short time we traveled together. I feel like who or whatever killed him is a really big butthead and a piece of dirt for doing that. Also ahhh, I wish Petals and I had just gotten here a few days sooner so we could have talked with him before he was killed. I feel like, I don't know maybe we could have maybe stopped it somehow if we had just gotten here sooner. If I hadn't been going so slow trying to research all this God stuff along the way, maybe, I don't know. Maybe I just need to go to bed early tonight, the funeral is early in the morning tomorrow. Do I need to write a speech, should I write a speech, am I supposed to say something tomorrow? Crap I might need to write one just in case someone asks me to say something.

Farewell Ispin Greenshield,
He was many things. He was a talented swordsman I witnessed that 1st hand. He was a tall man, a man not that just I could look up to in height, but more a man I could look up to in honor, a man of integrity, loyal to his friends and strangers he just met. Courageous to run into battle to protect others, and kind in heart with how he spoke of others, Ispin Greenshield embodied the ideals that represent the Knights of Solamnia. He spoke of being a Knight of Solamnia with pride in his eyes and a smile on his face. Thank you Ispin Greenshield for the short time you were in my life and the time you were with those gathered here today. You once told me “Est Sularus oth Mithas,” or “My Honor Is My Life.” You represented that, and that won't be forgotten. Thank you.
