Hellah called me over and there was Tristan, lying on the ground unconscious. Next to him, the Skaven archer I recently had dealings with. I yelled out at him, cursing his name to Morr! Hella tried to calm me down. Furiously, I cast Comprehend Languages again in order to speak to the Skaven as to why Tristan laid on the ground before him. He said he did not know the man and that his kind were attacked and that he knows where "the imp" is located. Pressing onward he said four large humans on horseback, wearing helms attacked them on the road leaving the valley as per our accord. Only Skrack, one of the females, and one girl survived. Tristan's horse was also scared off after the Skaven knocked him out, however the Dragonborn went after it, recognizing the horse.
Shortly after, four horsemen wearing helms rode into town with a young Skaven in tow. I vaguely remembered the young Skaven since it was the one that pissed all over the imps boots. The cleric tried to speak to them, but they practically ignored her and kept moving towards Stadard's estate. Moments later they caught up to the Dragonborn who would not let them pass without a reasonable explanation for the young skaven bound in tow and started a pissing contest with their leader. Garrett was his name. They exchanged some words and then some blows. I slowly caught up to them, for first I dragged Tristan unconsciously back into his vardo. I asked the mercenaries if they had seen an imp. They dodged the question. As I walked closer towards the center of the town square, one had the audacity to let loose a couple arrows at me. Well that wasn't going to fly with me and I cursed his name and blasted him twice until he fell off his horse and onto the ground.
Not long after their man fell, Carilius (the imp) showed up with Reece, the captain of the guard. More words were exchanged while the cleric went off to fetch Stadard. These men were mercenaries working for Stadard as patrol and defenders of Pine Grove. Fortunately, by the grace of Morr I was able to persuade these men to lowering their weapons so we could continue this conversation with less hostility. They had not checked in with Stadard for awhile and were unaware of the accord with the Skaven. Stadard presided over the controversy as more words were exchanged over the huge misunderstanding that had taken place. Ultimately, the mercenaries left as they were no longer getting paid, the young Skaven was released to us, and Stadard will work on updating his men.
I then headed back to checkup on Tristan, however now he was missing... The Skaven archer was still in the barn and we released the young Skaven to him. Now it was time for him and Carilius to tell us all what happened...
