Appearance

Physical Description

Stands at 4'9", and weighs around 110 pounds with a slender build. She is an average size for a triton her age, but comparatively small within her own traveling party. Since beginning her travels on land, she has become more toned as a result of increased physical activity.

Body Features

Muted blue skin with patches of scales on her limbs and torso, as well as short fins on her wrists and calves. While her toes are fully webbed, her fingers are only half-webbed to enable both fast swimming and dextrous grabbing. Contrary to on-land rumors, she does not have gills - tritons have a respiratory system similar to land humanoids, but theirs is simply designed to also enable waterbreathing.

Facial Features

Her natural eye color is primarily black, with only parts of the whites visible; in darkness, her eyes become entirely black. For unknown reasons, her left eye turned blue following her pact with Barashtuzodo, though her vision is not impacted. She cut off most of her hair following the party's journey into the Vexing Jungle, and currently wears it in a shaggy bob with sharp bangs.

Physical quirks

Her skin and hair are prone to dryness when she is out of water, and she carries a small misting bottle to prevent discomfort as a result.

Apparel & Accessories

On land, she is most typically seen in black leather armor consisting of shorts, a high-neck top, modified armguards, and boots. She also usually wears a dark green cape. Underwater, she is more frequently seen in casual finery (particularly sleeveless dresses) or Varunath royal wear during special occassions. She wears a signet ring bearing the Varunath crest on her right ring finger, and currently wears a Ring of Mind Shielding on her right pinky.

Specialized Equipment

Her weapon of choice is a trident that she recieved in Sin Fidare, though she also carries a shortsword, a shortbow, and a set of poison-infused daggers. She carries a tan Bag of Tricks on her belt, which contains the components to summon a magical creature she refers to as Kevin. Since her travels in Rafteraa, she has carried an orange Emperor Sapphire, which has demonstrated some magical properties.

Special abilities

She is amphibious, and can communicate simple ideas to water-based creatures (though she cannot understand them in return). Her innate connection to the sea as a triton enables her to cast several wind- and water-based spells, and life in the deep sea has rendered her resistant to the cold. Following her deal with Barashtuzodo, she has obtained spellcasting abilities. Per her commune with Tetra, she is attuned to the Psychic element, and can use that attunement to deal additional psychic damage in combat situations.

Mentality

Personal history

Lylyn was born in 1183 to King Moglos and Queen Olennyn, the current sovereigns of Varuna. As the king's firstborn, she is the heir apparent to Varuna's throne, and was raised from childhood with the understanding that she should always be prepared to become queen. By her adulthood ritual at fifteen, she was well-educated, diplomatically trained, and acutely aware of court's inner workings for better or worse. By then, she had also developed her father's self-sacrificial tendencies - Moglos ruled with the belief that leading an empire means placing it above himself, and Lylyn similarly grew up ready to do whatever needed to be done to ensure peace and prosperity for her people.
 
However, this belief was tested when Lylyn turned seventeen. Her father, along with Queen Moslodyn of neighboring Ludona, created a pact that would combine the two empires under Varuna's banner. As a term of the pact, Lylyn was to marry Moslodyn's son Jorvos to ensure the staying power of the Ludonath name. Though Lylyn initially accepted her engagement, she eventually came to understand that Jorvos' militant and chauvinistic tendencies directly conflicted with her own beliefs. Ultimately, she publicly refused the marriage, leading to the failure of the pact and driving a rift between her and her father.
 
In the two years that followed, the once close relationship between Moglos and Lylyn deteriorated sharply; Moglos openly held Lylyn responsible for the pact's failure, and came to believe that she was too impulsive and naïve to make a good queen. Lylyn, meanwhile, grew increasingly rebellious, often vanishing from the palace grounds to spend time among the common folk. By 1203, the tension between the two came to a head and Moglos provided Lylyn with an ultimatum - she would prove her fitness to rule by gathering intelligence on land, or she would give up her claim to the throne. Lylyn chose the former and began training with the royal spymaster, who spent half a year honing her existing skills and developing new ones until Lylyn became a well-rounded rogue. Once the spymaster determined that Lylyn was ready to turn her training into real-world experience, she departed for the relatively nearby continent of Alumina with the vague assignment to learn about its inner workings and translate them into beneficial information for her own home.
 
Her travels eventually brought her into the fold of Guild 13, a disgraced organization based out of Sin Fidare. Guild 13 has discovered the presence of a sinister 'thirteenth element' that draws energy from deeath itself, and the guild's leader sought out people to help prevent a catastrophe. Still unable to return home, Lylyn opted to align herself with the guild despite its reputation, and is currently working to prevent a full-scale invasion by the being that can harness the thirteenth element's power.

Education

Lylyn was raised with the best educational background Varuna has to offer, and she has a deep understanding of history, political science, sociology, and architecture. She is fluent in five languages - Common, Aquan Primordial, Draconic, Elvish, and Dwarvish - as well as the quasi-language Thieves' Cant.

Employment

She is normally a high-ranking member of the Varunath royal family, if that counts as a job. She is currently a traveling adventurer taking on any work asked of her by Guild 13 and their contacts.

Accomplishments & Achievements

Rescued and returned the aasimar Zalaruus to Guild 13 after the massacre of his associates at the hands of a beholder.
Successfully thwarted the attempted coup of Rafteraa by Emperor La'Opula and her stewards.

Well-connected at home, with friendly ties in the royal court, the priesthood, the military, and the trade center. She is currently aligned with Sin Fidare's Guild 13, and has become close friends with her three traveling companions and fellow guild members.
