After linking up with Nikator, and revealing the war-changing information they posess, the Misthioi are sent posthaste to deliver their documents to prince Krateíros, narrowly dodging assassins, bounty hunters and the like, almost getting caught with their pants down in a tavern, managing to escape and reach their goal.
The Misthioi race against time to save the life of Embassador Hephaiston before he is assassinated, alas a careless slip of a tongue seals the colonists' fate, knight takes rook, and to salt the wound, they are framed for the murder. Forced to flee, and with a new companion-by-coincidence, the mercenaries manage to secure a collection of vital documents, before making their escape from Adis-Eblar, during which, luck, or perhaps, pure happenstance drives them into an old friend, Nikator of Marush, who reveals that Tyrannus Hephis has declared his nephew a traitor, and split the army by loyalty, almost right in the middle, and instructs them to deliver the documents to prince in exile, Krateíros.
After a bizarre, surreal exploration of a tomb, the Misthioi meddle in forces they don't understand, forever changing the threads of fate.
