A Yearly Vekh festival in honor of the Mother and The Great Father

History

After the fall of Kwarrin and he orphaning of the children, the great father, through his seething wrath granted the vekh the power to see into the spirit world, but through the mother's grace and humble wisdom can only use this power after attuning to the spirits of the world, and drinking the sacred broth of Dreams. for fear tht the children in their ignorance would abuse this gift of their creator and instead of living in harmony with the island, would seek to dominate it, as the ancestors of the Avan Vekh did centuries before.

Execution

By dusk, the combined tribes of he children make an enormous bonfire, every warrior (able bodied male) gathersthe wood necessary to build it. Meanwhile the House of Wives start sounding of songs and boiled fungus. After the fire has been lit, the High Shaman begins telling stories, of all their ancestors, and the story of how they faced Apesh'Nua and his children, the Snake people. The rage of Great father Ashbar, when his own daughter laid slain before him, murdered and violated by the trickster god, and how he descended to destroy his creations, the inhabitants of Eritris. At this point, all the men start singing, with a low hum at first, and then from youngest to oldest, in groups of roughly equal size, begin reciting the history of Ashbar's rage. The gates of the House of Wives flung open, and the sacred broth of dreams is brought out, with a caravan of womenfolk, lef by the oldest, sing song of the Mother, and how her grief is a force for growth, and another task given to renew her, like pastures after a wildfire. After having a contest of song, traditionally the men of the tribes, are slowly convinced of patience and humility by the true heart of their womenfolk, and accept a drink of the broth, which causes sleep and dreams that lead one closer to the spirits of the world. The youngest don't drink of the broth, their initiation also takes place during the festival, and they get to choose spouses, for life. with an intricate dance, the results of which, bind the couple together for life, and to fail to connect to someone is a grave dishonor and will result most of the time with the youngling's expulsion. After this romantic moment, the newest husbands and wives drink of the broth together, and drift off to dream, together.

Observance

Every summer solstice, when the A'rech reach the traditional zenith of their migratory patterns, and settle a few dozen miles southwest of the southern, gentle slopes of Great Father Ashbar, known as the Father's Spine. The night of the Solstice itself begins with The House of Wives singing songs of devotion to the Mother, and brewing the sacred brew of dreams, Consiting of boiled fungus, a specific type, known only to grow in a ravine called the Bothers' Spite.
