  • Terfel returns to the party with his new giant lizard, and asks Dax' Athla to make a saddle for it.
  • Warden talks to the lizard, and Terfel begins attempting to train it. He establishes a pecking order, Terfel is a more dangerous predator than the lizard.
  • They sleep in the Barrel, and set a watch. Nothing happens.
9th Nymm, 998 YK
  • In the morning, they meet up with the ogres of Tzaryan Company. Most of the party is shown to their place in the column, and mess tins with grist are handed out.
  • Terfel is led to the front of the column, but he isn't allowed to approach The General until he's safely mounted and secured to his horse.
  • The General introduces his two bodyguards, Braazug and Gregg.
  • The column leaves Vralkek and starts the journey. It's surprisingly pleasant, as the road is paved.
  • Check the bottom of this report for the description of Droaam's wilderness.
  • Terfel doesn't really speak to the General.
  • In the evening, the ogres set up camp. Only the General has a tent, the others all sleep under the open sky. Terfel is allowed to return to the others.
  • There is some discussion about how Droaam feels wrong. Terfel expresses that he will try to find out more about the General the next day.
10th Nymm, 998 YK
  • In the morning, as before, Terfel is not allowed to approach the General until he is safely mounted and secured to his horse.
  • Terfel asks the General if he knows anything about the term "Kell Knight." It doesn't mean anything to the General, but he states that Tzaryan might know something.
  • Terfel has a conversation with the General. He tells the General that he served in Cyre, on the borders.
  • The General informs Terfel that he served in Cyre, Karrnath, Aundair and Breland.
  • The General used to work for House Deneith, but there was an "incident". He feels that he owes nothing to the House. Tzaryan sought him out and recruited him while he was laying low in Breland, he is respected here.
  • Terfel has a brief chat with Braazug, asks her if she knows anything about training lizards. She normally eats lizards.
  • She mentions that Wyverns make bad mounts, they can sting you while you ride them.
  • In the afternoon, Ashi is agitated. Dax' Athla asks her what she sees, and she informs Dax that someone is following the column.
  • They inform an ogre that the column is being followed. Chuut runs to the head of the column and informs the General.
  • The General gets Terfel to write orders for the party. Ashi, Dax, Geth and Warden will sneak into the woods and capture the figure, the ogres will cause a distraction.
  • The ogre charge into the woods, swinging their weapons and yelling. Nobody could miss them.
  • The party sneak up on the figure, a hobgoblin woman.
  • There's a short fight, the hobgoblin is a spellcaster! They manage to capture her using a combination of magic, poisoned arrows, hitting her, plants, and rope.
  • They take her back to the column, where Chuut recognises her.
  • Her name is Ekhaas. She's been warned to stay away, and the ogres had orders to capture her if she was caught interfering again.
  • Chuut goes to take her to the General, but Dax argues they should get to hear what she has to say, as they captured her.
  • Chuut agrees, and takes the whole party up to the head of the column.
  • The General explains that she is a pest, a member of the Kech Volaar who has appointed herself the protector of the Dhakaani ruins in this part of Droaam.
  • The General tells Chuut to guard her, and throw her in the dungeon when they get to Tzaryan Keep.
  • She's been a thorn in Tzaryan's side for some time, what'll happen to her when they arrive will depend on Tzaryan's mood.
  • There is a small conversation about Warden, who is using his starry form for the first time. The General interrupts them to ask if this is important, and that's the end of that conversation.
  • When they are back, Singe whispers that he thinks he knows the General. He recognises his voice.
  • Geth exclaims "oh shit" and I ended the session.
  • Suspense!

Description of Droaam around Vralkek

You spend most of the first day riding through some of the most desolate country any of you have ever seen. As far as you can see, the land is nearly flat in all directions. In some places, it seems to be boggy and not so different to the marshland you've gotten used to, but there is none of the life that the swamps in the Marches have. What vegetation does exist here is like the land and it's peoples, harsh and covered in spikes. It's a similar feeling to the desolation left in the wake of a battlefield, the Last War left many locations in a similar state to this. Droaam didn't see much of the war, though, this is much older. As if the barrens have been ruined by time, rather than war.     Warden in particular gets a very uncomfortable sense of wrongness to the land here, as if it's been deeply scarred by some ancient wound that only it remembers. There doesn't seem to be any animal life.     By late afternoon, the open, flat marshland is replaced by rolling hills, sparsely populated by isolated thickets of thick, black trees. The feeling of desolation, like some great disaster corrupted this place clings though. It's perhaps worse here than it was in the open marsh, as the shadows cast by the trees seem to move when you aren't looking, and there is this constant feeling that you're being watched. Like something from the past is waiting for an opportunity to reach out and take you. It's also completely silent, other than the sounds of the ogres around you. Perhaps the passage of the ogre army has scared any wildlife away, but there is a persistant feeling that it's always like this.
