When the gift won't go away Report

General Summary

As Badalona Ailendogs made his way back to Darknook following the funeral of his father he noticed, almost immediately, that things were not quite right. There was a large crowd gathered outside The Broken Snake  and the Darknook Town Guard  watching over Bali's tower.   After reconnecting with the rest of the party Badalona and Marble , in the guise of Mary Greywhisker (town florist and noted busybody), approached Dorb  and Trask, the 2 Town Guard assigned to watch over the tower. At that time Marble and Badalona learned that something had gone amiss in the tower "wizard business" and the dim-witted Dorb had let slip that a partially cut up corpse had been found inside the tower. He also let slip that Palanc, the proprietor of The Broken Snake had been found dead that very morning.   The entire party made their way to The Broken Snake to find the real Mary Greywhisker was in attendance as well as a large crowd, some more Town Guard and the mayor. Mayor Abet, secretly torn between delight that her political rival had fled town in disgrace and consternation over the death of Palanc and the simultaneous disappearance in the night of at least 3 of the town's families. Seeing Mehmen Ashid, she asked for his magical advice. Inside the Broken Snake, the party discovered the badly charred body of Palanc and were finishing their investigation when a breathless peasant revealed he had been attacked on the road outside town by a great creature. who was bellowing one word "Ashiid."   The party quickly rushed up the road to find a zombie ogre was waiting for them amidst the ruins of a horse and cart. It seemed, after a tough fight, that the party had the zombie destroyed on several occasions only for the creature to rise again. Eventually, it rose no more and the party found a note in dwarven which contained a threat.   The party rested up and headed into the Llangoed Forest, towards the shores of the Murky Lagoon and the ruined hunting lodge. As darkness fell Mehmen, Marble and Alok Ravaralei scouted out the lodge. They briefly ventured inside before several grisly discoveries and some unsettling noises caused them to return to camp to wait of the light of day...
