Session 13: The Road To J'Zanassi
General Summary
The Panther, Day 12: The party joined up with J'Dira before noon. The day was uneventful, save for a stop at a farm run by a halfling family where Rome and Doug were able to acquire a lot of fruit. The day ended with the caravan camped at the side of the road as it rained through most of the night. The Panther, Day 13: The day was sunnier, and things dried out quickly from the previous night's rain. Around midday, the caravan was passing through a forest when an ogre came crashing out of the trees, wielding a large club. The younger Tabaxi proved to be strong archers, and along with Doug and Rome, they fought off the ogre, bringing it down with arrows as it fled into the forest. The ogre had nothing of value, but Rome took the crude necklace it wore, a leather strap with a shell, for herself. The caravan camped by the side of the road for the night. The Panther, Day 14: In the early afternoon, while passing through a forest, a squirrel was throwing sticks at the caravan. Rome, who was seated beside Ahlani in the rear wagon, managed to dodge a stick aimed at her head, catching it so it didn't hit Ahlani instead. Rome cast Speak With Animals and found that the squirrel was simply annoyed from the noise the wagons were making. The caravan reached Helmsmoor by the end of the day, staying in the Inn. Doug swam in the lake, trying unsuccessfully to catch fish with his bare hands. The caravan passed a comfortable night, with Ahlani spending the night with Rome. The Panther, Day 15: The caravan continued north, crossing the Lower Thrashanir Bridge, the caravan passed through the crossroads where the Nythan Transsect ended, continuing north on the J'Zan Passage. In the mid-afternoon, the wagons climbed the southeastern of Ma'Zar's two hills, crossing the Upper Thrashanir Bridge to reach the northwestern hill, home to Forest's Edge, a large inn on the way out of town. After securing rooms, the party noticed a billboard with bounties for a pair of ogres, a plant creature, and a rumour about stone-like trees; each notice directed them to J'Lanni at the Mithril Gauntlet outpost in town. J'Lanni revealed herself to be a Vigilance operative, which the party knew as Kina Veslynd had suggested they could seek her out. She offered them their choice of the bounties. As the party showed interest in the ogres, she directed them to Dra'Zahna of The Flask, whose apprentice had seen the ogres himself. Dra'Zahna had little information about the ogre's whereabouts, but she did refer specifically to Ogvai, saying she wished to talk to him. Deciding to head off immediately, to prevent the ogres from destroying more of the forest or reaching the town, the party headed back to Forest's Edge to part ways with the caravan.
