Map Pin Scaling Toggle/Pin Zoom on Hover

map pin scaling zoom custom-pin map-scaling
When creating custom pins (or even with standard ones) I would love for there to be an option/toggle (maybe on a per-pin basis?) to stop them scaling with the map when zooming out. This could be useful when you don't want to use the polygon tool for whatever reason - please see my example below :)   I had this issue because I wanted to have custom pins that when hovered over, they enlarged slightly - something which would require the pins to be additional pictures on top of the base map. Unfortunately, this also doesn't seem to be possible with CSS currently - when I asked for CSS help in the discord, apparently the zooming and its refusal to zoom on hover are built into the of the map markers? Hence this feature request!   Basically I just want the ability to create pins on the map that zoom slightly on hover, but when you zoom out of the entire map, they scale with the zoom. The picture below is what happens when I currently have a custom pin that functions as an icon and have zoomed out to see the entire map, and below that is my map at 100% zoom as a contrast.

The Team's Response

Hasn't reached target 300 votes in 20 days   Pins do not scale, the map does :) Pin scaling on purpose is not implemented by any map making or editing software   A much better implementation to help with this (bundling markers) will be implemented during the Atlas release.

Yes please, with a large map, zooming out means everything is taken over by giant all-consuming pins!

Gosh yes, thank you! Put a Map Pin for "special effect happens here", let it fill up the intended amount of space, and let that proportion stay consistent as the map zooms in and out? I would be able to let the Players drag around their Light sources, for example!

I remember trying to help you with this, and it simply wasn't possible without making things uhhh... interesting. I'd like to see this added as an option, it provides some nice flexibility!

Yes, having non-scaling pins is especially handy if you have lot's of pins close together (As I have on the campaign overworld map. I might need to make more regional maps...)
