Scheduled Article Publication

Feature Upgrade · Articles & templates · Created by Anthraxus

What functionality is missing? What is unsatisfying with the current situation?

Currently articles have to be manually published when you want them to become available. It would be great and shouldn't be difficult to implement a "publish date" that would allow you to schedule the publication or alteration of the WIP/Done and Draft/Published states of the article.   Ideally this would allow the author to maintain a regular release schedule of new articles if they plan to have a period of downtime that might prevent manual execution of that schedule.

How does this feature request address the current situation?

It enables it while the current configuration does not.

What are other uses for this feature request?

Adding this feature would allow for additional control and dynamism in how authors present their worlds to readers, particularly for RPG worlds and the like.

The Team's Response

Scheduled releases is something that will be handled in the future but currently there is very little support for it to enter the queue

Scheduled info drops are something that I am working towards in the future of my world. Having them available as an automated process would be huge benefit so that I don't have to set myself a bajillion alarms to do it myself.

Good idea for when you're on vacation or out of commission in a different way.

This would be amazing.   From a writer's perspective, it would be great to schedule manuscript chapter drops to a particular day and time for consistent output, allowing the writer to write ahead but publish consistently, even if they're not home or in an awkward timezone relative to their readers. It would also be great for dropping lore articles simultaneously with their associated chapter.   From a DM's perspective, it would be great to have things drop (or even open to subscriber groups) at specific times relative to game time. For example, everything you should have learned pops out an hour after the end of session or the things you'll need to know come out a day ahead so you have time to read them.

This feature would greatly enhance building a relationship with subscribers and the ability to publish on a consistent schedule. It would also be a great tool for those attempting to monetize their world content.

Surprised this is not already a feature. Definitely think it adds value. From a DM perspective, consider being able to add details about a night's adventure an hour before play to provide information but not allow too much time for your table's min/max players to dissect this; and doing this without interrupting your own last minute preparations.

This could really help me maintain consistency, because sometimes I have the energy for several articles in a day, and sometimes weeks will go by with a dry spell

This would be great as I could write an article that could spoil things I published it right there and then but with this feature I could delay it until it would no longer do so

This is a good idea for those who are monetizing their worlds and want to give sneak peaks of content before a big release!, I think this is a fantastic idea

Could be cool for the "monetizing my world" folk, for example you might want to release your 20 articles right when your book drops.
