This is a great idea :) Food and food related rituals and customs are such incredibly fundamental elements of any culture, anthropologically speaking. I think this inclusion would create a lot of depth and interest! ... in fact, I wonder if something similar shouldn't be added to "species" ... perhaps just in terms of basic biological function ... are your elves herbavores? carnivores? ... maybe they can only be sustained on soul magic? .. or metal ores!
