manuscripts scenes settings
What functionality is missing? What is unsatisfying with the current situation?
When working on your manuscript, a Chapter (folder) can contain multiple Scenes (scene documents). In the presentation/view mode of the manuscript, these scenes aren't separated in any visible way. They are simply combined into seamless chapter text.
- If you want a visual separation between your scenes, you have to add them manually in each scene. Very tedious as the number of scenes grows or when porting over a large story. (And typing asterisks into the editor is buggy, too.)
- It defies the point of having individual scene documents in the first place. There's no advantage of splitting the scenes into separate documents vs just pasting all the chapter text into one document.
My idea of solving this problem would be giving the user a manuscript-wide option/setting of scene break indicators being automatically displayed on the presentation/view side that the reader sees. It could look like a dropdown selection field, where the user can choose asterisks, horizontal lines, or nothing (, or anything, really?) to be displayed between two adjacent scene documents.
How does this feature request address the current situation?
With the addition of such a setting dropdown, there would be no more need to manually add scene seperators to the manuscript text.
What are other uses for this feature request?
The option for choosing "nothing" (which could be the default setting for a new manuscript) would also cover the use case of people who handle the available document types of manuscripts in a different way.
