What functionality is missing? What is unsatisfying with the current situation?

The ability to assign which conflict an article precedes, succeeds, and is concurrent with in the side bar. An example from the Wookieepedia:

How does this feature request address the current situation?

Adding a feature that allows assignment of conflicts in relation to eachother would smooth out the process of organizing the timeline of battles (for example). Similar to how the organization temple has a "predecessor organization" and "successor organization" option.

What are other uses for this feature request?

The Team's Response

Thanks for your suggestion! We understand the reason, but we're planning a system that will address this usecase, although in a different way.   In the meantime, you can use custom side panel fields to add the fields yourself to the articles that need them.   Finally, timelines and chronicles are made specifically for this! You can visually show parallel events to see how they interact with each other. Use chronicles if you have maps to show the evolution of the conflict, or timelines if you want to focus on just the history.

This would be really useful in a world that has multiple smaller conflicts that all build to a larger conflict.   For example: within THE GREAT WAR there is actually WAR 1, WAR 2 and WAR 3 in sequence. Within each of WAR 1, 2 and 3 there are numerous battles.   Within each conflict article being able to say Battle 2 can after Battle 1 and before Battle 3 within WAR 1, and then within WAR 1 saying this preceded WAR 2 etc. This would aid in worlds and stories that have multiple conflicts occuring,

I hadn't thought of this until I saw the example but man this sounds like a really good idea (and a fairly straightforward implementation) for those who have conflict-heavy worlds.
