What functionality is missing? What is unsatisfying with the current situation?
- The functionality that is missing is the ability to manage articles and categories more in the way how an operating system manages these files and folders. To clarify what specifically is missing is the ability to move multiple articles and categories to different categories at the same time, rather than having to do this individually.
- What is unsatisfying about the lack of this functionality is that when I create lots of uncategorized articles, when I do decide to start organizing them or if I need to rearrange lots of articles at the same time, moving them with drag-and-drop functionality makes things slower and less efficient.
How does this feature request address the current situation?
- The feature request will address the situation by giving us another way of organizing, managing, and maintaining our articles and categories.
- It would allow us to not only have to use drag-and-drop functionality to rearrange and organize our articles. Although I love the drag-and-drop functionality for moving around a few articles, it becomes cumbersome and inefficient when moving lots of articles or categories at the same time.
What are other uses for this feature request?
- Other uses of this feature are possibly allowing for other areas of World Anvil's world management system to have a more efficient way of organizing for the user.
- This would let things be more similar to how operating systems manage file systems, where you can both drag and drop but also select multiple files and folders (articles and categories) at the same time to move things more efficiently.

Hello Beans! The greatest limitation of mass/bulk anything is the fact that World Anvil ... is not your computer. Operations like moving massive files or data on your computer is a heavy process and, well it can even slow down computers that only you use at any givien time. World Anvil is being used by 100s and some times in the day 1000s of users at any given time. There are solutions, for this, like creating a queue and running it, but this can become hard to work with so I never considered it a viable solution. Moving large amounts of articles ALL together to a SINGLE category, if many cases is the result of leaving thing disorganized for a long period of time and then having to clean it all together, it happens to all of us, but in most cases it is not an everyday issue. To conclude, I already have 2 candidate solutions for a build actions interface but as this suggestion's number of votes show, it was always something some people wanted, but not big enough to push it at the front of the pile, but we are getting a new developer in with the expertise to implement either of the solutions I have in mind which is good news. I am accepted this provisionally even if it hasn't reached its acceptance threshold. Much love <3 Have a great weekend everyone!

on 2021-10-31 19:49I'd love to be able to move multiple articles at once into a category - I will often quickly generate articles, but I also have a lot of categories, so I may not pick one for that article to go into right away before spending a day hunting down my mis-organized or unorganized articles and putting them into the right categories.
