Reading List Folders/Sorting

What functionality is missing? What is unsatisfying with the current situation?

  • I'd love to be able to sort articles in folders, either a number of pre-defined ones or ones I can create myself similar to the image gallery.
  • It'd be nice to be able to switch between showing them as article blocks or as a table/list similar to the Followed Worlds page.
  • It'd also be nice if the reading list could sort articles by A-Z/Z-A.

How does this feature request address the current situation?

The reading list (accessed via Profile > Your Reading List) is currently functional but a little clunky and difficult to navigate through if you have a medium to large amount of articles saved there. It displays each article as an article block, and seems to sort only on date added (I think?).   Being able to sort them, especially A-Z/Z-A, would help a lot in finding that particular article down the line without scrolling through my reading list several times.   I save articles for several purposes:
  • Some permanently because they're super useful resources that our lovely army of anvilites have typed down for us and I'd like to keep handily "bookmarked". I also keep some often referred to Anvil Codex articles here.
  • Some temporary articles are ones I haven't read but want to save for later while cleaning out my notifications list.
  • And some other temporary articles are those I've read and liked, but would also like to comment on later. Either I don't have the time right now to do so, or I need a bit to formulate myself.
Being able to sort and put reading lists in to folder would be great if only to separate "bookmarks" from temporary additions.

What are other uses for this feature request?

Not really sure I can think of any other uses. :)

The Team's Response

Thanks for your suggestion! We have decided to decline it, but we have an idea for a future feature that might help with this usecase. Stay tuned! :D

this would be a nice feature to consider revamping or improving upon at all. I think it's definitely worth a revist. Thanks so much for suggesting this! <3 God bless

I use many saved reading list articles as inspiration or examples for my own articles and it would be very helpful if I could better organize them by category. On the other hand, I use the reading list for articles that I like, but I don't follow the worlds or the authors so I can later comment on them at events like WE or SC. So that the list doesn't overflow at the moment because you quickly lose track, I'll remove a few items later. Here it would be very good if you could easily remove the article with a simple click (like with the notification list) without having to return to the article and confirm the corresponding button there.
