Lohntpil (purple people)

The Lohntpil are the natives of Nitayo. They believed it was not up to them to go outside and explore the rest of the world and that there were only them in the whole world. Magic arrived long before the Japanese, and when it did, it was otherworldly to them... or in this case otherplanely. It became a basis for worship. They put together that some individuals were gifted, and a sort of sub-gods. These sub-gods(aka. monsters) could either appear out of thin air, or be born within them. Often with other physical traits, like horns. Ruling them was the big, semi-aware nebula of magic. It roams the lands when it is free and causes things to happen, good and evil. The Lohntpil think it is best to keep it locked away. It is too risky, but they accept the "sub-gods" if not fear them. Once not submitting yourself to the higher powers of sub-gods where punishable. Stating non belief could prompt exile or persecution. By submitting to the sub-gods the Lohntpil hoped to attain eternal life, that they think is the ultimate goal of magic, and is also thought to be why the magic entity may kill. The person was simply not strong enough. And the sub-gods can make a person strong. The Lohntpil's tradition of not leaving for the outside, sparked a very conservative youth with aerial abilities to craft a shield around the entirety of Nitayo. This has affected life in many ways. Today the Lohntpil are believers in freedom of all, except the magic entity. It is too unpredictable. The Lohntpil are very knowledge of the universe despite their belief in a magic nebula and people as gods that can grant immortality. They know for example that after death you go to the world of the dead.

Shared customary codes and values

The idea of a home is present throughout all of the Lohntpil culture. It is a place of rest and safety. A place where you can slowly better yourself. A place where you can learn. And that is key.
The Lohntpil also strive to find a purpose for all. They want to appreciate all things.

Human sacrifice

The Lohntpil have a history with human sacrifice, and their culture glorifies it. That is to say, it is not allowed any more, and you will propbly be arrested, but it is easier for a purple person to justify a murder, than for other people. Once a season they used to get the family together, call upon favor, and decide how to make the sub-gods happy. Some of these were carnivores, so if one of them were in the area there would arise a schedule, for when to find someone and kill them. The Lohntpil would then hunt. With sub-gods where this was not the case other methods would be applied to gratify the special one.

Average technological level

The Lohntpil have what everyday people have now in normal technology. They actually helped design the flying-board. (A hover board, but with higher reach.) It works best on Nitayo as the magic concentration is the highest there. The board uses the surrounding magic as a mechanism in driving the board up. In some versions it's also used to drive it forward. The flying board is the most successful piece of technology that incorporates magic, and the Lohntpil prides themselves on it.

Common Etiquette rules

The Lohntpil have largely adopted Japanese etiquette, but with a few eccentricities.
Firstly men spin around themselves one time when congratulating or thanking others.
They also enjoy being tapped on the shoulder when saying goodbye. It's no big deal if you don't, but doing means you had a good time together with them.
Thirdly by all means do not carry around aquatic animals or anything that resembles it. This refers to leaving Nitayo, and even though that is allowed now, it is still a bad sign to do this. Get a back to cover the fish bowl or whatever aquatic representation you are carrying around with you. Suddenly leaving without a word is also as one would expect rude.

Common Dress code

Some Lohntpil wear a street urchins hat and a lot of them have little white stones and bones in their hair. They also very commonly thin string wear belts, and sport the same long sleves as the japanese.

Art & Architecture

Houses

The traditional houses of Lohntpil are seldom one story tall. Often is is build up of long rectangular boxes stacked in a variety of ways. The common rooms are often in the middle with ladders going up and down to other more private rooms. The door is often not at ground level either, but on the other floors. To this door there are stairs, but you are able to put them away. This is because the Lohntpil are very concerned with privacy. Typically they also have small rooms at the exits.
Sometimes houses would be build together and make a long structure with room to go through underneath like archways.
In regards to materials Lohntpil build out of clay and wood. Clay for walls and flat roofs, and wood for beams and pointed roofs. They also make glass for windows and paint for decorations.
The decorations used on the houses of Lohntpil include many colored wave patterns and something that looks like dream catchers with small gem pears impeded in the circle.

Common Customs, traditions and rituals

Storytelling

As in their old days the Lohntpil are tellers of old stories about the sea, the skies and the land, but not beound. It teaches security and survival. Tough surprisingly one of the stories is about an old man that insisted he knew everything, but when he didn't have any intention of going out and getting to know more he eventually caused his own death to happen, when a creature only attacking when agitated killed him. It could easily have been avoided, by observing it's behavior.

Job traditions

Messenger: A green cloaked person carrying a bag made of feathers lined with animal skin. They are very respected as beast slayers and news bringers. You are expected to be strong and swift.
Bakers, farmers, cooks and other food producers: Not all people within the Lohntpil culture are allowed to make food. Women may to a certain extent always make food, but otherwise it only people who asired for this profession for their entire life are chosen. These people can attain a badge with the title: A well rounded man.
Fishermen: A common job, but nothing to scoff at. These people are fighters, though not as much as the messengers. They can obtain a different badge:Fished to the end of the sea.
Miners: A common job.
Scientists and teaches: A person with one of these jobs is expected to have the other as well much to the dismay of both professions as this is very rarely the case anymore. Nevertheless these people are always interesting to the Lohntpil once the misunderstanding has been passed.
Office workers: These people are seen as leechers and are generally brought in from other places. They don't contribute with something visual, so the Lohntpil have a hard time understanding the use.
Party planners: No just no. Such disturbance.

Idioms

No man is without his home
____________________
This roughly means that everyone has something to protect. Everyone has a place worth settling down. A darker take on this can also have it mean that a man is nothing without a home.

The one who serves is the one who wins
____________________
This is of course relating to the belief in monsters as sub-gods. It means nothing more than what it says.

Large families

The Lohntpil stick together, in the sense that they marry people in close proximity to one another, so that they can help each other out. It may also be that a new family of two families inherits a parents house. Once families would build their houses together, and there would be these long lines of houses. See architecture for more info on how that works

Picnics vs. fights and ruckus

Instead of parties then young people would go to picnics and ice-skating events. Talk with and enjoy the company of others. Of course not all would be on board with this, and they usually get occupied with voluntary helping in the working areas. Usually. There are those who for whatever reason aren't. They would take every chance they could to liven up existence. This causes what no purple person wants, fights and ruckus. To deal with this they position watches with fighting capabilities to identify these people and get them occupied.

Birth & Baptismal Rites

The Lohntpil believe you were given from the sea to the land, as evidenced by the water that are on them when they take the form of a child, so when the child turns one they pour grain out over them. This is the promise of staying on the land, and even if you venture out to catch fish you will return to the land. Some wait till the child is five, because they want the child to make the choice themselves, while others argue, that staying on earth one year of more than enough proof that a child won't go back to the sea.

Common Taboos

Vandalism is not tolerated, and neither is sudden attention seekers
