The creature of death

Once upon a time there lived a quite normal young lad.
His name was Pidith Masuknu. On an ordinary day he would see to his sheep, and care for them, but not today. Today he was travelling. Now why would such a fine lad be travelling?
Indeed it was forced upon him, because his whole village... burned to the ground. He had come back home from his sheep to find nothing, but a black scorch, and a smell of smoke. Pidith knew not what had happened, but he had to continue on. He rounded up his sheep. Those where his only family now, and with them he travelled.
From Mumjel and to Mumjelku Su, and there he settled, for fortune had come, and soon too. In front of him stood a beauty, and further down a charming village. She was an absolutely captivating brunette. Her figure was bulky and her hair rounded and soft. She was caring a bucket, surely on her way to get something. That meant she was nice and strong too. A pure bliss. The young lad had fallen in love. He made up his mind to speak to her, but the sheep pulled him away, and then suddenly she was gone.
Only a funny looking creature remained, the size of a fox. It ran into the forest, not to be seen.
Pidith Masuknu and his sheep took residence in the village, and saw only the woman in glimpses. He asked a neighbor about her, but he wouldn't answer. The only thing he was told was a name, Virl.
As times went on Pidith fell ill, as many do. His body became restless, and sparks of energy would fly through him. In his restless state he mounted a sheep and took to the place he saw Virl. Miraculously she was there, and then before his eyes he turned into a beast, and stabbed him in the chest four times with her horn. Pidith didn't realise, and he thought he could tame her like his sheep, so he moved in to embrace her, and she told him; "I am not Virl, I am Dunl." Pidith was never found again. He must have died to his illness, out in the wild hallucinating.

Summary

The myth of Pidith is about death, and the unfairness of it all. The first sign of coming death is the burned down village, that forced him to travel as is unusual of Lohntpil. The second sign is his meeting with the creature, which is represented as a woman to lead him astray and make him deny his coming death. The last sign is his illness, and the completion of his denial. He goes to meet the woman, only to find her true nature a moment too late.

Historical Basis

While there is nothing to support the life of Pidith Masuknu did happen, the creature is said to be real, and to approach those close to death, as well as corpses of the wild. None of this has truly been confirmed, and is currently only a well known rumor or ghost story.
