Morund

Morund was once a general name for the eastern provinces of the Kivosian Empire, but these took opportunity to secede when it was embroiled in civil war. Thanks to the diplomacy of the current emira and their shared enmity with Ufra, there has been no war between the two realms, though there has always been tension. Unlike their western neighbors, Morundans prefer bardic arcane magic over wizardry due to the importance of the arts in their culture.   Morund's capital is Neyrun.

History

Morund is relatively new as a nation, but its size and stability have forced neighboring states to take it seriously. It has fought a few skirmishes against the Ufra Empire, but has avoided all-out war so far. The emira is only the second leader, but the first to come to power after Morund gained independence from the Great Kivosian Empire.

Demography and Population

Humans (most ethnically Morundan but with Imperial Kivosian, Khalan, Vilushan, and Nyrebic minorities present) make up the majority but Saydron orcs are quite common in the south and northwest, and orcs who have adopted Morundan culture can be seen throughout the realm. Scattered dwarf communities are present in the Mor Mountains, though they are a tiny fraction of the population. Dragonborn are also present in small numbers.

Territories

Morund's territory is to the direct east of what is held by the Great Kivosian Empire, going to the edge of the continent.

Religion

Morund follows the Four Gods, using an interpretation of them that is similar to, but slightly different from, the one followed by other Kivosians (excluding Ufrans).

Foreign Relations

Relations vary from friendly to tense with Great Kivosia, though treaties are in place. A frequent site of battle in Wars between Great Kivosia and Ufra before the civil war, Morund considers Ufra a major threat, and hostility towards it remains high even after the recent change of rule. Morund's two most significant allies are Saydrol and the Lumind Empire, and is usually on good terms with Nyreba, though there were some brief wars between them in the past, long before the Kivosian Civil War.
