Career
Qualifications
A soldier is someone who enlisted to be trained inside the military, this job is at the moment is only for men. It has seen as a nice career for young men who want to get out of their village or small towns.
There are some noblemen sons who also enter the military, this because their fathers did that before them and see this as building a good character.
Career Progression
There are of course a lot of ways a soldier can go.
Climbing rank
Climbing the rank, is maybe the easiest way to make progress inside this career. This of course is not easy at all. The soldier needs to be at least be two years inside the military, not only that he needs to be recommended by at least four higher ranking officers.Cavalry
The cavalry, in other words the soldiers need to learn how to ride a horse. Control the animal during battle, and most importantly he needs to take care of the animal. This in itself is a whole other year of studying. A soldier can climb to this rank when he serves more then five years inside the military has finished the course, which takes also place taking care of a horse of a high ranking officer and proves that he is able to bond with an animal.Personal Guard
The Personal Guard is a select group inside the military. This because there are only so many spots. There are four sets of guards, all with 15 to 16 men. So there is not a lot of change there, and more often than not those spots are going to those noblemen sons.Noblemen sons
Except from the personal guard situation there is no favoritism in the military for these boys. They need to follow the same type of guidelines as the others.Payment & Reimbursement

Putting your life on the line for Queen and country is not a job to take on lightly. But for a lot of young men it is appealing because it creates benefits. They know that in case of their deaths, their families are being taken care off. And not only that but they turn from just village boys to potential sons-in-law only because of their profession.
Perception
Purpose
Soldiers are being trained as protectors of Cidor. Their demand however depends on if Cidor is at war, soldiers next to their education expense more brought out then only weapon training. They learn how to communicate, learn basic medicine, are taught what to eat or not to eat when they are out of rations.
Social Status
Soldiers are seen as pillars of the community deserved or not, this depends on their character of course, not about how many battles they have fought. But it is known that parents are quicker to give their daughter's hand away to a soldier, then to a farmer.
Demographics
Although a lot of village/ small city boys folk to the camp to start their new life only 5% of those men complete their training. There is no other way to disc rib the course of this then it was harder than they thought.
Operations
Tools
Every soldier has two sets of everything for their armor. They carry a simple knot work sword, higher ranks are permitted to get long swords or other type of weapons.

Even when there in no war a soldiers' life is always at risk. They can get injured by an exercise or even be killed if they are not careful. And even the local Witch Doctor can't do anything about it.
