The serene beastfolk who embody the universal balance

Base Racial Traits

Ability Score Modifiers: (+2 Strength, +2 Wisdom, -2 Charisma) Bomujeo are wise and strong, but their serene and detached attitudes make them often misunderstood as uncaring and heartless.   Size: Bomujeo are medium-sized creatures and have no penalties or bonuses because of their size.   Type: Bomujeo are creatures of the Monstrous Humanoid type.   Base Speed: Bomujeo have a base land speed of 30ft.   Vision: Bomujeo have low-light vision, allowing them to see four times as far in conditions of low light.   Languages: Bomujeo begin play speaking The Regional Language(See Languages of Zheng-Kitar) that reflects their origins, and Terran. A Bomujeo with high INT can choose from the following languages: (Common, Auran, Ignan, Aquan, Luxan, Tenebran, Sylvan, and Baltairi)   Open Conduits: Bomujeo are taught how to truly open up themselves to the energies of Reality, and can draw sustenance and strength from them. They only need to meditate 2 hours in peace and silence instead of getting 8 hours of sleep, and while on the Material Plane or any place with an open connection to the Six Elements they do not need to eat or drink(GM Discretion).   Lethal Palms: Bomujeo are trained from birth in a martial art unique to their people, Jugatsu-Do, and this training grants them the knowledge to make every unarmed strike lethal. Bomujeo do not provoke AoO when they attack foes while unarmed, and they can deal lethal or nonlethal damage at their choice. They are always treated as having the Improved Unarmed Strike feat.   Amitabha: With serene minds open to the truths of the universe, Bomujeo draw strength from all things to resist mental influence. They gain a racial +2 bonus on all saves made versus Mind-Affects Effects. Additionally, as a standard action you may release a pulse of holy energy with a radius of 30ft - all allied creatures within this radius suffering from a mind-affecting effect return to their normal mental functionality for one round, after which the effect takes hold again as normal and continues with its normal duration. Once used, you cannot use this ability again for 1d4 rounds.   Universal Knowledge: Bomujeo draw knowledge not only from themselves, but from the realms Astral, Ethereal, and from the great ancestral halls where Bomujeo of times past dwell. They gain any one skill as a class skill of their choice and gain a racial +2 bonus to it. At the beginning of each day, they may change one class skill to a non-class skill and make another non-class skill a class skill.   Elemental Balance: Bomujeo use their open connections to the energies of reality to resist those same energies, and gain resistance 5 to Fire, Cold, Acid, and Electricity. They gain Channel Resist 4.   Tenfold Disciples: Chosen guardians of the paths to the afterlife, Bomujeo maintain a strong spiritual connection to the souls of the departed - they may use speak with dead as an at-will spell-like ability, however their version of Speak With Dead requires the soul that once inhabited the body to not have moved on and been reborn or become corrupted(Such as an Oni or an Undead, Etc) - otherwise, the condition of the body is irrelevant when using this SLA. Additionally, a Bomujeo acts as a conduit for dying spirits to pass through into the afterlife - within 100ft + 100ft per HD they possess, creatures that perish have the period for which spells which raise them as undead(Such as Raise Dead) function on them shortened to 1/hour/level similar to the Hasten Judgement spell. Creatures that perish who have a means of rejuvenation(Such as liches) within this radius have the time in which it takes them to reform after their death increased by 50%.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Bomujeo are towering, monolthic creatures in comparison to humans, with a roughly humanoid body with a mostly similar anatony to other humanoids though their skeletal system and musculature are more well-developed to support their large bodies.

Genetics and Reproduction

Bomujeo reproduce through sexual reproduction similar to many humanoids, and once the female has been impregnated she typically carries the child(ren) around inside of her for a period ranging from 6-8 months, after which point they give live birth to a Bomujeo Cub.

Growth Rate & Stages

Once born, Bomujeo are considered adults by the biological age of 20 and reach full biological and emotional maturity around age 25. They reach middle age around age 55, become old around age 73, and become venerable around age 90, whereupon they die shortly thereafter.

Ecology and Habitats

Bomujeo favor Humid, Wet climates such as Rainforests, but in lieu of such places they can thrive nearly anywhere thanks to their Warm-Blooded biology, thick shaggy fur, and heat-retaining bodies with highly developed means to release heat as well...though they generally congregate around mild climates if they are available.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Bomujeo are generally herbivores and prefer diets of plants and other roots, but it is not unheard of for more feral or sometimes even more eccentric Bomujeo to eat meat in their diets, though plants and the like are generally still their primary meals.

Biological Cycle

As they age, Bomujeo find their fur turning dull and losing most of its vibrancy, with the blank accents along their furry bodies slowly fading until in extreme old age, only white fur remains with perhaps a touch of black here and there. Their fur becomes matted and less regal as well as they age, turning sad and decaying as it begins to shorten.

Monks of the Cosmic Balance

The Bomujeo are well known to be one of the most serene and peaceful races on all of Zheng-Kitar - they live lives full of tranquility and harmony and are deeply in tune with both the world around them and nature itself...and are the only known race on the continent said to have a connection to each of the six elements. They may cut a fearsome presence and one full of menace, but in truth they are perhaps some of the calmest and most peaceful people one might ever meet. Bomujeo are highly spiritual and almost monk-like in their daily lives, and from the moment they are born they train the martial art that has permeated through their people and society - "Jugatsu-Do", or better known as "The Way of the Raging Rapids".   This martial art has spread completely throughout Bomujeo society, and its practice is taught to all Bomujeo starting from an incredibly young age, as they believe studying martial arts and Jugatsu-Do will not only better one's body, but will also better one's mind and lead to overall lifestyle improvements. To train in Jugatsu-Do is to center oneself and become at one with your surroundings and the universe, to meditate and focus on the six elements inside of you and understand all that you do not...they apply this art to almost all aspects of their daily lives as well, from building and construction to ruling and leadership. They believe, as well, in leading lives of balance - and evening out one's karma to keep a balanced spiritual karma - for to attack first might involve negative karma, but to spare one's enemies would thus even it out and lead to balance.   This makes them incredibly curious to others, and many are quite quick to understand that there is no need to fear the Bomujeo - and while they are quite capable of defending themselves, one need not worry about being attacked by them. To a Bomujeo, all elements and what they represent are important - simple following one element and what it stands for is the work of most life on Zheng-Kitar, but to Bomujeo it is lacking...each element has teachings and things to learn, and thus Bomujeo strive to learn from everything and each element - and are incredibly open and understanding as a result.
