The Gisiae

The Gisiae are an elite group of soldiers for the city of El'Vhen and for Mélemardor in general. They are tasked as shock troops, protectors of El'vhen High Councilors and other important figures, and as a special police force for especially dangerous lawbreakers. While seen as a pinnacle that one could reach as a soldier, much of the world (including those that reside in El'Vhen) view them mostly with fear. If one is confronted by a group of Gisiae, they better hope that the Gisiae has orders to capture on not to kill their target.
The Gisiae are chosen from the best of El'Vhen soldiers, worthy champions, and those who prove a high level of combat skills. They are taken and trained in seclusion. Specifics and the extent of their elite training is not known publicly, but it is rumored that they receive extensive martial training as well as magical teaching for those that are competent with it. It is also said that they may be magically augmented in some way. That much has never been confirmed, but they are given special high level magical items to make them a very fearsome police force.
All of the Gisiae are Elven. Whether this a strict requirement or just a coincidence born of convenience is not known, but most assume it is the latter. Those who are not of Elven descent don't have many reasons to aspire to become Gisiae and all of the Gisiae are recruited, not drafted. This may have to do with the rumored magical augmentations needing to be willing and not forced. In any case, out of all the potential troops or police types that you may face if you find yourself an enemy of Mélemardor, the Gisiae would be the one you would wish to face the least.
