High Priest Runar

High Priest Runar

At the close of the second era there was a change in the world that was hard to place. The Aesir seemed more reserved and spoke more through prophets rather than personally speaking to mortals. This led to a time a of complete confusion. To help their people, the Aesir turned to their newest prophet High Priest Runar to calm the masses.   At the turn of the age, High Priest Runar taught the Norselands to prioritize what they already possess. Before this time, the Norse would focus on gaining new resources whether violently or through trade. Runar spread the word that while the Aesir still found that gaining wealth and proving strength is still glorious, taking count of what is already available is also important. Having a bigger farm is good, but efficiently using your current farmland is also important. Getting more iron for more weapons is good, but building better weapons with what you have is also good.   Runar's teachings made a large impact with the Norseland's settlements, but true change took centuries after Runar's death to fully take root in Norse society. Even in current times, there is still Viking cultures that make their living from attacking others and taking their resources.
