Military

The Legions basic battle formation is composed of three divisions; the infantry, the cavalry, and the artillery.   The infantry is majority spears and shields, and the troops pack tightly together making a frontal offensive against them extremely difficult. Keeping up the defense and to advance the front line is the infantry's responsibility.   Behind the infantry stands the artillery. Here a centurion will watch over his division to ensure his infantry isn't collpasing and to direct arrows and magical effects on the battlefield. The Legion artillery is well known for their use of fire destruction magic.   The cavalry is often help as a centurion's reserve component. Composed of troops mounted on horses and armed with bows and spears, they can quickly outmaneuver enemy ground troops engaged in conflict. Centurions will take advantage of this and deploy their cavalry to flank the enemy after they have already been engaged.

Under one, for all.

I like the 'weapons system' employed here, very nice. The infantry, artillery, cavalry system compliments each other quite nicely. The people I write about, the Lukdunnite, haven't quite developed that much yet. The fight in a heavy infantry formation using spear and shield, perhaps similar to what you described, but offensively as a heavy forward spear charge. Almost like knights on a horse, except without the horse. They don't have artillery yet and their cavalry is very limited.
