South Gilaan
The youngest of the twin cities, South Gilaan is the current capitol of Dalure while North Gilaan is reconstructed. It is located against the Southern Great Wall along the Red River.
Infrastructure
Although the Red is not as large as the Buryu, South Gilaan has taken similar measures to its northern sister and has built a bypass for its main channel. The bypass rarely gets used but is still maintained in case of severe flooding.
History
South Gilaan's construction began immediately after the completion of North Gilaan, although not at the same pace. While the northern sister was mostly built within the first few years, construction in the south didn't end for almost ten years. The city was built as a near perfect reflection of North Gilaan, which is where the name "Twin Cities" originates.
Following the recent dragon attack on North Gilaan, and the subsequent evacuation, South Gilaan has become a sanctuary for their fellow Dalurians. The city, however, did not have enough housing for the near 100000 refugees, and was forced to erect tents and other temporary structures outside the city.
Architecture
Because construction began after the completion of North Gilaan, accessibility to better materials had already been established, via the trade route through the valley. Much of the city was still built from cobblestone and whole lumber, but for the few who were rich enough, they constructed their manors from bricks, granite, and marble. While production has made these materials cheaper over time, many Dalurians choose to build simple and modest homes, even despite their wealth.
Geography
Built against the Southern Great Wall, the city rests on top of the Red River. The land in this part of the valley is uneven with long rolling hills that continue into the woods to the south. The hills force the small Red River, only around 500 feet at its widest point, to weave and wind
