Nelkhetia

Nelkhetia is the second most populous nation of the Empire, and the seat of the World-King himself. It is made up mostly of grasslands, but the Jerada Hills take up much of the centre of the province, while the Daabza Forest dominates the northern peninsula of the same name. It is bordered to the south and east by the Zourane Mountains, and to the south-west by the Sibou River.

Culture

The homeland of the Nelkheti is fiercely devoted to the righteous rule of the World-King, and any suggestions that the Nelkheti are more concerned about amassing personal power are without grounding in reality. The Nelkheti pride themselves on their disconnectedness from the rivalries of the other nations, and their ability to rationally and fearelessly deal with any crisis that may arise. So goes the saying: "Nelkheti officers do not duck!"

History

Nelkhetia was the first nation to submit itself to the will of the World-King. When he descended from the Heavenly Realm, the king of the Nelkheti fell to his knees, and gave his crown to the World-King. Our monarch then led the armies of his new kingdom to victory against the Bagarans, who at first believed him to be a usurper. Once they had been conquered, the Bagarans faithfully offered to serve the World-King, who then directed his forces against the corrupt oppressors of the Zourani.   It was at this point that the first coalition was formed: an alliance between Marceddia, Birinia, and Zourania. This band of tyrants was soundly defeated, and the Marceddi and Zourani people were liberated. Several more coalitions were formed and defeated, until only the king of Rihal remained. With his supposed allies no more, he realised that he had been deceived by them, and submitted his kingdom to the World-King's protection. Thus was the Nelkheti Empire forged.

Demography and Population

Nelkhetia is one of the more cosmopolitan nations, although the vast majority of its population is still ethnically Nelkheti. Large portions of Nelkhetia's population are employed in the bureaucracy of the Empire, while many others serve as officers in the armed forces. The large population relies on food imports from Rihal and Bagara, though under the stewardship of the World-King, famine is of course impossible.

Religion

As in all other Imperial Nations, the people of Nelkhetia dutifully follow the will and commands of the World-King. Additionally, The capital is home to the Mausoleum of the Abiding, the home of both the World-King and the souls of the loyal departed. From the Mausoleum, these souls await the World-King's ascension to godhood under his protection.

Agriculture & Industry

Relatively small numbers of Nelkheti are employed in agriculture, as the majority of the lower class works in the abundant factories of the nation. Here, they craft great quantities of finished products from the raw materials provided by other parts of the World-King's Domain. Furniture, armaments, canned food, steamships, textiles, and all manner of other items can be found, and are often purchased by the many administrators and officers of the nation or exported to other parts of the Empire.
