Kilbyua

The Kilbyua is a honorific/ceremonial title that can be granted by the Emperor/Empress of Yura. The title is always held by a Satrap, and at any one time there are three Kilbyua. The name itself roughly translates to king, but the title itself confers no actual power, authority, or lands. The title is viewed as prestigious and is coveted by all the Satraps, for the aforementioned prestige and the monetary benefits, mentioned below.

Qualifications

The holder of the title must be Satrap.

Appointment

Upon the ascension of a new heir to the throne of Yura and during the presentation by the Satraps of the Satrapal half of the Morning Crown, the heir awards the title to three Satraps.

Benefits

Each Kilbyua receives a annual stipend, paid from the Imperial Treasury, of 1,000,000 silver.

Grounds for Removal/Dismissal

Upon the death of a Satrap the title is lost, and the Emperor/Empress may designate a new Kilbyua. Upon the death of the current Emperor/Empress the title is also lost, and the new Emperor/Empress may award the title.

History

The title was originally a military rank, and was conferred on three High King/Queens by a majority vote of the Council of Eight. Those assigned the rank led the combined armed forces of Yura in times of crisis. Following the War of Seven Satraps and the founding of The Empire of Yura the title was changed, its military authority removed, and become solely honorary.
