Stephanie Tiri, Satrap of Western Lilira

Satrap and Regent of Western Lilira, Council Member of the Imperial High Council, High Arcanist of the Imperial Court, Lady of Magic, Kilbyua, Stephanie Dian Tiri

Stephanie Tiri is the reigning Satrap of Western Lilira and considered by some to be the most beautiful woman in Yura. What is beyond mere consideration or any debate is her magical prowess, as Stephanie Tiri undoubtedly ranks among the most powerful wielders of arcane magic on Yura. A niece of Koin Angara, Emperor of Yura, Stephanie Tiri flaunts her royal blood, and believes in her own inherent superiority, as a mortal with the blood of both the Liberated Line of Angara and the Liberated Line of Tiri in her veins. Stephanie Tiri is rarely seen and, while by no means a recluse, her prodigious wealth affords her the luxury of spending much of her time devoted to pleasure and leisure in her palace of Tailud, Capital of Western Lilira . She is seen as a fair, if distant, ruler.

Personal history

Stephanie Tiri was born in 602 A.L. (sharing a birthday with her Imperial cousin Dian Angara, Crown Princess), the only child of Sutaryo Tiri and the emperor's younger sister, Atarah Tiri (née Angara). This ill conceived marriage of convenience between the austere Sutaryo and shamelessly recalcitrant Atarah (who would often publicly denounce her older brother), shaped the young satrap's early childhood. When Sutaryo mysteriously died all fingers pointed to Atarah, and it was only at the intervention of the emperor that she avoided execution. In return for this nearly legendary leniency Atarah was stripped of any authority within the Satrapy, banned from her traditional place on the Imperial High Council (as the regent and widow of a Satrap with a child who had yet to reach the age of majority) and, at the age of six, Stephanie Tiri became de-facto the ruling Satrap and Regent of Western Lilira. Educated by an army of tutors the young Stephanie excelled in languages, history, art, and especially magic. This last skill was especially encouraged by Atarah, who delighted in flaunting her daughter's magical prowess, often unflattering comparing the emperor's daughter (her niece) with Stephanie. Atarah, coveting the Imperial throne herself, filled the young Stephanie's mind with power-mad lies; Stephanie should be rightful heir of Yura, and the throne had been stolen from her. The overbearing Atarah also often meddled in Stephanie's life, dismissing tutors and filling political positions in the Satrapy with her supporters. Undaunted by the Emperor's demand she relinquish all power in the satrapy, Atarah assigned a series of puppet regents, all whom were utterly beholden to her. As Stephanie neared her fifteenth birthday and the age of majority, Atarah had accrued so much power that the Emperor, worried as to the safety of his niece, sent a small army of Imperial Guards to the Satrapy as a "present" for Stephanie. Stephanie's official ascension proceeded without issue. Deeply affected by her mother's oppressive yet masterful influence, Stephanie Tiri relied heavily on her mother in her early years of rule. Atarah was all too happy to "help" her daughter, and continued her ruthless consolidation of power. This maneuvering went mostly unnoticed by Stephanie, as Atarah concealed most of her actions, and continued to infect Stephanie with insidious fantasies of imperial power and glory. Yet, while still partially under her thrall, the now twenty-three year old Satrap was no longer a child and, when Atarah was caught in the act of arranging the assassination of a noble rival, her transgressions could no longer be overlooked. Atarah was again spared execution, after being allowed the argue her case before Stephanie, but did not escape unscathed. Blinded for her crimes, she was further put under house arrest in the palace in Tailud. Stephanie Tiri, along with the few loyal members of the bureaucracy and the nobility who had resisted Atarah, purged large sections of the Satrapy's administration, arresting, banishing or executing most of Atarah's supporters. Many members of Atarah's supporters did not go quietly and a series of small revolts flared up which, by 626 A.L. had all been stamped out. Stephanie Tiri, now twenty-five, had fully come into her own and worked towards revitalizing the damaged and corrupt administration within Western Lilira. During this time Stephanie Tiri, against the wishes and advice of nearly the entire nobility in the Satrapy, freed Atarah. Her mother was free to roam the Satrapy, but was constantly accompanied by guards handpicked by Stephanie. As High Arcanist of The Imperial High Council Stephanie Tiri worked to increase communication between the Keepers of the Opalescent Glasses. Stephanie though, seemingly without warning became increasingly distant towards the running of her Satrapy, and by 636 A.L. she was rarely spotted in public, leaving much of the Satrapy to be run by the various appointed councils and nobles. In 643 A.L. Atarah disappeared, her guards found slaughtered, and her body missing. Following this event it is reported that Stephanie retreated even further from public life and has become increasingly more difficult to access, even to her own nobles.

The Satrap also has a pet peacock named Illia.

Speech
