Algol Mountains
The Algol Mountains is a small mountain range on Norrab. It divides the Sian Lowlands and the Looming Desert, the two dominant biomes in Aridara. It is also the source of the Algol, Norrab’s longest river.
The norrabian species first evolved around these forested mountains, eventually migrating into the lowlands and the deserts, to the north-west and south-east, respectively.
Geography, Location & Climate
The Algol Mountains have the three tallest peaks in Aridara. Aventa is the tallest mountain in the region, 6,305 metres above sea level. The mountains have a humid climate, swelteringly hot during summer time. The only way to escape the blazing sunlight is within the thick groundcover and shrubbery. Swarming shadows are cast across these forests from the different mountain peaks.
Galan Valley
The Galan Valley is known for its salt deposits. Rain clouds from the east and west converge and rainfall fills the valley’s deepest parts, where large pillars of salt increase salinity.
Salt miners work in the valley, extracting this precious blue salt and selling it at extortionate prices, preying on gullible tourists. Galan salt is nothing more than a variant of halite, or rock salt.
