Many half elves are part of the royal burocracy at the city. While the Elves, renown by their wisdom work in the many Public and Royal Libraries across the city and also as wizards at the King's service.  Many of them are also nobles, and they have asimilate themselves into the local aristocracy. Although they are not as numerous and important as in the Elvish-Oronai realms.

Government

The city is ruled as every Oronai city and new founded colony by a city council formed by 100 representatives of the social classes of the city: The commoners, the merchants, the artisans, and the nobles. Those representatives are elected by the so called "Class Assemblies" where each social class choose 25 representatives. After the Council is stablished, from these 100 representatives 3 supreme councelers  are elected. Usually they would be chosen by the council but as the city is the royal capital these supreme councelers are elected by the King.  They are in charge of the main aspects of the city. From guild regulations to public works, create and collect the taxes or ennacting new laws.
Also the high priests of the main gods of the city and the royal cult are chosen from members of the council. They are given public houses mantained by the citizens and they perform their duties for 5 years.  Other member of the Council is elected as Commander of the Militia ( always a close friend or supporter of the king) in charge of training and commanding the militia in case of need.  Also a commision of 10 members is chosen from members of the council whose role is to establish the religious calendar and the main festivals and activities related to them .

Defences

The city is protected by a great wall made of shiny white stone with  10 gates according to the  ten main roads that lead to the capital. Its towers are squared and boost heavy artillery like scorpions and catapults.  Accounts said that the towers  are as taller as 20 men, and the walls as 10 men.    The capital has also a permanent colony of around 10.000 soldiers alongside their families. Also there are more than 20.000 members of the Royal Guard settled in the city in the Royal Barracks. Those are 10.000 infantrymen, 5000 cavalry and another 5000 light and specialized infantry.

Industry & Trade

The city is famous for its production of fine clothes, specially those made of silk and its fine craftsmen, that create sumptuous objects made of gold and silver. Also the city exports fine ceramics to every corner of Teria, specially the famous Oronai painted pottery which is very famous across the continent and an luxurious object in the barbarian realms to the East and North.   Also outside the city lie hundreds of farms that supply the city and are worked by either the colonists of the city or people from the nearby villages.

Dozens of windmills are found in the nearby farms, outside the city walls. There also also granaries inside the city where food is gathered in case of hunger and siege. Also the city's main theatre has been rebuilt becoming even greater.   The city is also famous for its great port, one of the biggest of the Thysalis Sea. It is divided in two sectors. One is the civil sector, where fishing and merchant ships are allowed, and the other is the military sector where the royal navy is anchored. Only military personnel is allowed in this area.

Guilds and Factions

For two centuries the aristocracy had been the dominant faction in the city, formed by the descendants of the original veterans of king Magas's army who settled in the city. But due to the importance of trade across land and across the Thyssalis Sea, the local merchants have become very rich and powerfull and they quickly demanded representation in the Council. Also the common people and the artisans, who produce the goods that are bought by the merchants demanded representation there too. So, a compromise was stablished in which each class shared equal representation. But pacts are very common and the Merchants ( specially the wealthiest that are intermarried with the aristocracy, tend to ally themselves with the nobility in order to preserve their power and influence).

Founded in 510 AP by King Magas the Great as a military colony at the site of a little indigenous village called Laris, in order to control the recently conquered lands and to reward his veterans. The city grew quiclkly due to its strategic location near the Thysalis Sea and became an important trade center that attracted many Oronai settlers, as well as some neighbouring elves and half elves.   With the death of the great King, and his sons and generals fighting for power, the city became the capital of one the successor kingdoms of Magas's Empire, the Kingdom of Steplia. It was enlarged by the first generation of oronai kings who ruled over it, specially king Phillotas II, who built the great Public Square, the Great Theatre and the Library that bears his name.
