Limbo

Limbo is a bustling city thriving with life. Situated on a landbridge connecting wider Yarth to the deadlands it is the last stop for Topsiders hoping to enter the deadlands. Limbo is a tiered city built upon naturally formed mesas and connected via bridges of varying architectures and means. The mesas allow the city to have a uniquely open feel as it has no need for walls. It is here that trade between Gero, the largest source of freshly manufactured bluut on Yarth, and Yarth as a whole can be conducted.

Government

As a more organized city Limbo answers directly to F.A.T.H.E.R. in Icarus but due to what are often extreme distance complications Icarus has little direct impact on the city other than trade, and takes on more of a administrative role. The local government of Limbo to the dismay of Icarus is an Oligarchy. With Limbo being such a lucrative location the owners of the various docks and shipping infrastructures make their own rules for how their lands are used. In its early days Limbo was a chaotic free market nightmare where one dock would have different rules than another complicating the settlement to no end. In the present day three oligarchs share ownership of all ports and infrastructure in the city. Under this council efficient and timely decisions can be made to keep the ports running.

Defences

Due to Limbo's height advaantage of being atop mesas it has no need for walls. This is a double boon as most forms of transport through the city are enclosed be them cable cars, lifts, or airships meaning thaat a Nightfall has minimal effect on the cities productivity. of course the odd Venarian slips through these defences or is Corrupted wwithin the city limits but the sheer wealth of the Oligarchs means a constant patrol of Relictas and Buzzies is on watch at all times.

Industry & Trade

Limbo can be a dangerous place, but its lucrative location draws the ambitious from all over Yarth. The biggest and Primary source of bluut manufacturing is done at Gero. Gero is far too dangerous for trade to take place due to its locaation deep inside the deadlands, but Limbo and gero are connected by a rail line known as the last train. Through this Gero can make new bluut and ship vast quantities of it to Limbo for sale. Limbo in return sends quality of life goods and services as well as essential materials that Gero cannot make itself. It is here that people can maake their fortunes directing shipments and making deals between the two cities, and shipping the freshly made bluut out of the city to yarth as a whole.

Infrastructure

Limbo is a Port city through and through be it hopeful Reclaimers coming in from wider lands and buying supplies at the countless shops that make up the bulk of Limbo's permanent structures, or bluut traders coming back from Gero with fresh product an docking at the ports thaat maake up Limbo's skyline and highest most levels.   Connecting Limbo's many Mesas are varying bridges some made out of stone or metal with varying architecture. Some not bridges at all but rather cable cars moving products and people betwween the mesas, or even airship ferry's for those in a hurry.   Limbo is relatively advanced with proper indoor plumbing and other amenities one would expect out of the second age such as radio's televisions internal combustion vehicles, and the odd bit of third age tech mixed in. The last train has one of its two stations on the ground floor of Limbo this allows massive amounts of produts and people to be shipped beteen Gero and Limbo

Assets

An enormous Market district selling everything anyone could ever need in their adventures through the deadlands

Guilds and Factions

The Oligarchs are the rulers of Limbo using their vast wealth they keep order and efficency in Limbo. While for the most part they are neutral if they suspect an up and coming trader could threaten them....well rumors abound.

History

Beginning as just a Reclaimer outpost built around the Last train's station once the reclaimers got the locomotive running they could make contact with Gero. from there the city only grew as word spread that new bluut could be manufactured and not just found in canisters around ruins.

Architecture

Hemorrhage stained stone are the most abundant materials in Limbo giving the bricks and concrete made from the a blackish hue. The architecture is a mix from mesa to mesa as each was settled independently by different groups. Though most share a Gothic feeling reminiscent of the old castles found in ancient "youropa". Wwith its proximity to the deadlaands itself Limbo's inhabitants are extremely superstitous. Visitors to Limbo could mistake its inhabitants for having a bad case of O.C.D. given the maany rituals and shrines dotting the streets. Folks wwill o straange things such as touch a door handle three times, snort in particular fashion, repeat actions, and other oddities. These rituals are usually unique to the family doing them as each have their own history as to how they ward off stray spirits. as for the shrines they can range from candle lit vigils to statues to gardens these unusually quiet areas of the city are meant to appease any wayward ghosts or wraiths that cross the land bridge.

Geography

The views from the top of the docking spires are truly a sight to behold. To the east the great sea can be seen. to the north the deadlands themselves and on a clear day with some luck one can see the eye of Amans. to the south the wilds of Yarth and its many ruins.

Natural Resources

Other than being the only safe place to conduct trade Limbo has no natural resources and cannot mass produce any of its own goods.
