Citizens of Kapetapec

The island nation of Kapetapec lay to the east of Zenubia across the Coastal Sea. Kapetapecans are Humans and live in harmony with nature much more than other human nations.

Bio

Standard human. They have slightly darker skin due to the tropical climate.

Habitat

The island nation of Kapetapec is a lush rainforest with white shores, warm winds and exotic Flora and Fauna. It is dominated by The Great Volcano which is responsible for the volcanic soil which helps to create the lush environment. They do not name their cities or encampments with two exceptions.
  • The Great Volcano. This is the center of the nation and is the spiritual center of Kapetapec. It is such an important part of the country that every area within the country is named based on its location (east or west) of the Great Volcano. Eastern features are named “Kapetapecan” e.g. Kapetapecan Jungle, Kapetapecan Beach while features that are west of the Great Volcano are named “of Kapetapec” e.g. Jungle of Kapetapec, The Beach of Kapetapec.
  • The Great Treasure City of Kapetapec. Within the Volcano (and slightly on the west side) is a city that can only be reached when the Great Volcano opens.

Global Politics

Kapetapec has two strong beliefs: first that everyone should stay out of Kapetapec. They have closed their borders long ago and they have almost never taken to strangers. The second belief is that everyone should bow to the Great Volcano. A general stance is that humans should live in harmony with the surrounding lands but they have no interest in the political doings of others.
  • Allies: Zenubians are the only outsiders that are freely welcomed by the island nation of Kapetapec. These are the two oldest human cultures in Xumlandia and they may share a common ancestor or two.
  • Adversaries: Anyone who would seek to enter Kapetapec, anyone who would wish that Kapetapec would open its borders and in particular humans from Granada They are likewise not fond of the Wind Lords but only show a disdain for those who choose not to leave Kapetapec alone.

Languages

There are only three languages spoken by these people
  • Kapetapecan. This is an ancient language that dates to the earliest times of Xumlandia.
  • Worldspeak . Only when they are forced to deal with outlanders will they use this tongue.
  • Zenubian. Closely related to Kapetapecan(language) they do converse with their friends in this language.

Demeanor

They normally come in two flavors: evangelical flavor – they wish to bring around others to the Kapetapecan way of thinking (or the thinking of Kapetapec if they’re from the west) and xenophobe flavor – they don’t like/trust/want/agree with anything that is not of Kapetapec (or Kapetapecan). They are very skilled in hand to hand combat but they are most at home in a lush environment where they can use their knowledge of plants and tracking to their fullest extent. After getting past the fact that someone is not from their country they can be quite nice but will always strive for a Kapetapecan way of life.

Powers

They too are human.
  • Strength in Numbers. Humans tend to be stronger in numbers when they join as the race of Man. This is a +1 that can be added to almost any group endeavor. Cost: 1
  • Resilient and Resourceful. All humans have a knack for survival and are able to learn almost anything. They are only limited by their imagination. Cost: 1

Aspects

They share the following.
  • Island dweller. They are from an island nation and are very familiar with the water, including swimming, boating and fishing. They can apply a bonus to all aspects of Island life. Invoke: Helping to construct a boat. Compel: Seeing fish they may try to catch them immediately.
  • Kapetapecan. Every Kapetapecan (or citizen of Kapetapec) feels akin with Nature and will not go against Nature whenever they can. They also prefer to keep Kapetapec to itself and are not fond of outsiders unless they turn ‘see the light’ and become Naturalists. Invoke: Recognizing what is ‘Fruit of the Earth’ vs. Poisonous Fruit. Compel: Preferring to catch & cook her own food.
